Car making grinding noise when turning the wheels
My 2008 Crossfire is making a grinding noise when I turn the wheel in either direction. it normally only happens when I am going slow and turning. Whatever the issue is it's also burning through front tires in a few months time. I took it to the shop and the guy said I have to replace the entire steering system which I'm not so sure about. I've took it to him a few times and he told me a different problem every time which I fixed. Now this issue but it's going to cost a few thousand to fix this. I'm also limited shops here in Germany and going to pay substantially more money here than in the US. Sorry for the long post any advice would help.

Have you tried: KSC Reifen Stephen GmbH Tires,Rims,Alignments
Opelkreisel 15 Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz 67663 Germany
Phone- 0631 3520120
Were they able to get the alignment set to factory specification? How did the before and after #'s look? Was anything way off from before?

And you're sure it's coming from the front?
Brake pads OK?
And you hear it when you are coasting, car in neutral, slowly turning?
And you haven't hit anything lately?! Just saying that 'cause my cousin just bought a new Kia Stinger and 3 days later hit a dang cat crossing the road in front of him while he was at highway speed on a back-country road. Bad luck for the cat and the Stinger....
I don’t think it’s neither the power sterring pump nor pulley. It’s kinda hard to describe the sound best way to put it is it sound and feel like I am driving over rocks. But it feel like it’s coming from the left side.
Wheel bearing? As someone asked before, how many kilometres has the car done?
It could be the ball joints. I had similar symptoms and it turned out that the ball joints had too much play and had been needed to be replaced. Good luck!Btw, Where in Germany are you from?
Perhaps it's time for you to become a bit more proactive with your issue. You could jack the front end up;tires off the ground and stabilize with jack stands. Spin the tires, push and pull the tires from side to side and check for looseness or noise(wheel bearing), have someone turn the steering side to side and look and listen for any noise, push and pull all the steering components, steering stabilizer, ball joints, etc.. You could pull the wheels off and inspect the brake pads, rotors, etc. It's possible that your noise may only happen when the car is down on the ground loaded, but at least you will have given it a good try. It would save you big money if you find the issue and can tell the mechanic what needs to be done, rather than your current relationship with mechanic. And I don't believe you've answered everyone's question about the mileage of your car.
I thought I responded to that already I’m at 86,000 mikes. I have jacked it up and inspected myself already trust me I’m no fan of just wasting money.
You never answered these questions. Just trying to help you out with the limited amount of info. given. Good luck with figuring it out.
Can't it be the lower control arms bushings?
Mine does cracking noises when I turn the wheels left/right. I haven't had a chance to change them yet.
Or the ball joints, like suggested before.
Can you get the wheels to make the same noise in neutral, by just turning the wheels left and right?
