Default Grinding Noise

I noticed that when i cut the wheel to the right all the way, i hear a grinding noise coming from one of the back tires. I spoke with my mechanic he said this is normal..? Anyone know what this could be? And to fix it?

Am I to assume you are in motion at a low speed ?
Nothing with the wheel all the way to the left ?
I it occurs both ways, possible differential problem.
If only to the right, then possible damage to suspension components on the right rear.
Other than that, I'm at a loss .....

Yes could be one of many issues. Could be as simple as a rusty rear rotor and the sound is generated by a brake pad rubbing against the rusty surface. More info required. What was the mechanics justification for "normal" ?

Tell the mechanic that you will bring in a Crossfire that does not make a noise like yours does and he can fix it. Then he can tell you what it is that needs fixing and then you will know what causes the noise in yours.
Moral, get another mechanic.

I see you have about 60,000 miles on the car, not too many. You do not say if the noise comes from an inside wheel or an outside wheel in the turn. The suspension and drive line will have different forces acting on it due to the turn radius. Could be a CV joint or suspension bearing/wear point creaking. Back in the day I would have given all joints a little squirt of oil/grease and listened again and hoped I had cured it.

Can't it be the lower control arms bushings?
Mine does cracking noises when I turn the wheels left/right. I haven't had a chance to change them yet.
Or the ball joints, like suggested before.
Can you get the wheels to make the same noise in neutral, by just turning the wheels left and right?

FrenchyAlex, you are responding to a post that is six years old, and as quite often happens the OP, Original Poster, never did respond back with a solution to his problem. Sounds like you are talking front suspension and he was referring to the rear.

Crap! I was answering this post:

I guess I screwed up and posted in the wrong one. Thanks for catching it, and sorry about the mess.
