Crosscountry Roadtrip
Instead of shipping, I'm planning to drive a low mileage (< 24,000) 2006 Limited Coupe 6-speed from Phoenix to Charleston, SC. In addition to a recent service and new tires I intend to take along a replacement RCM (relay control module), CPS (crank position sensor), tire plug kit, oil, and coolant. The car has been driven around 500 miles in the last year without issue.
What tools are needed for replacing the RCM/CPS? Suggestions for replacement tires? Also, I'd appreciate any guidance or advice forum members would like to share. Thanks.

For the CPS, (and for the car in general), get an external (and internal as well) Torx socket kit. In the external bits - you want at least E4 to E20 sizes. That is, you want from the small ones all the way up to the size that fits the alternator/water pump bolts.
I think the CPS, RCM, Plug kit and (if the car does not have one) an air compressor is a good idea.
Not sure coolant and oil are needed but whatever.
I bought the Graphite in Sedona, AZ and drove it home without tool one all 2200 miles to Georgia in 2010. Didnt' carry oil, coolant, RCM, nothing!
Did the same thing with the SE that was in Florida. I do agree that new tires are a good idea if the ones on the car are suspect. I like Hankooks but that's mostly due to price and the fact they stay quiet - I hate tire noise. Hankooks are not great with standing water in the road at all.

Will you take I-10 all the way across? I live 5 minutes off of I-10 in western Florida, should you have any issues. For tires, I like the Continental Extreme Contact Sport DW06 tires, which work well in rain or dry.
