New member, new owner of 04 Coupe
Hi folks,
I heard from my brother recently that his older Prius has a head gasket leak and rough idle. Repair options would be more than the car's value, given its mileage. I decided to give him my 08 Prius because I am kind of tired of it, and don't need to take advantage of the carrying capacity like I used to.
So I rolled the dice on an eBay listed 2004 Crossfire Coupe in Brooklyn. I took a train from MA to Newark and did the transaction on Sun (03 Dec) and the car is parked at the airport while I'm on a work trip. On Thu, my wife will drive the Prius down to Newark, and we'll continue on to NC for a visit. Finally, fly to Newark then drive the Crossfire home to MA.
I've always been attracted to the sporty sophisticated looks and fun driving characteristics of these cars. I hope my foolish risk pays off. This example is in good shape at first glance, although the interior will need to be spruced up. I put a code reader on and got a hard #5 cyl misfire and four assorted pending missfires. They would not clear, so I'll probably need to sort that before getting inspected. (I expect I'll be asking for help from you folks). Despite the codes, it idles and pulls smoothly. It will be my daily/commuter, I'm looking forward to it.
Other cars -
2017 Chevy Volt for my wife, it's been great.
Sold my 2006 Exige track car a few months ago. Fun but a giant pain.
1991 Nissan Figaro, will sell this Spring.
2023 Stingray Z51 Coupe, second owner.

Welcome to the forum
Best of luck with any issues you discover...just know in advance DO NOT take it to a Chrysler dealer for any service or troubleshooting
They simply don't have the knowledge and most often don't even the diagnostic equipment to be of any help to you
Find a good independent European Automotive shop in your area and ask them if they have service Crossfires before you do anything
