COM members - hello! I'm a Rockville owner but not a COM member. I have a 2004 original Xfire that I haven't driven in a year because of either an electrical or CAS problem - the car goes into limp mode almost immediately after starting and the dash lights up as well.

I'm looking for some help to diagnose the problem and hopefully put my fun car back on the road. If anyone knows of service folks near Rockville or any possible suggestions, I would welcome the help!

Thanks in advance!

Hello akmishu,

I live in Damascus so I'm not far away. A couple initial thoughts and then if necessary we could meet up for a look at the car.

1. How old is the battery?
2. Have you had it scanned for trouble codes and if so, what are they.
3. Does everything else function as it should?
4. What lights up on the dash? Or is it all of the lights come on?
5. How many miles?
7. Have you had your Computer Module checked?
8. Have you ever had your transmission connector replace?

These questions are targeted to help understand whats going on and to help diagnose potential know issues. Let us know.

We are also planning a possible shop day soon so stay tuned.

Have you been able to get it to an Autozone or Advanced auto parts store. I believe both stores will use their scanner for free to read error code being generated by car,and give you a printout. Before you try to get it to them call the store near you to make sure they have a reader for the car. If you can get the error code I'm sure someone may be able to lead you in the correct direction for fixing the issue.
Good luck

Doubt it based on our discussions this week. We will see what happens when I take the car in for service.

Not that I am aware of. I heard a couple people were interested but COM as a club did not make it an official outing. Most of us are going to Moparpalossa as our May event.

Nope. I've had nothing but bad times at the OC cruise. Maybe some of the members are going and planning something, but I'm not planning anything for OC.

Yeah I was looking forward to it too. I might show up, and hang out, but not going to show the car. Car shows are going to be close to the house, and few,for the next few weeks.

the club got this email the other day.

As a president or leadership team member in your car club, your opinion is valuable. Your club members, family and friends come to you for the inside scoop on cars and automotive care. Because you’re an important influencer and a trusted expert, we want you to be among the first to try Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ Full Synthetic motor oil with PurePlus™ Technology. And because you love cars as much as Pennzoil does, we want to know what you think about it.

PurePlus™ Technology is a revolutionary process that converts pure natural gas into the first-of-its-kind synthetic base oil used in Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™, a motor oil designed for complete protection without compromise. That means cleaner pistons¹, better fuel economy² and unsurpassed wear protection³.

You’re passionate about your vehicle and you know it’s crucial to change your oil regularly. But until now you may not have seen the proof that changing from one brand to another, or changing from conventional to full synthetic, can really make a difference. Here’s your chance to see what happens inside your vehicle’s engine.

Pennzoil is so confident in their Ultra Platinum™ Full Synthetic motor oil, they are offering you two FREE cases and premium Pennzoil® oil filters. But they’re taking it one step further by offering you Used Oil Analysis (UOA) kits, too.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ Full Synthetic can be used in any of your vehicles. The retail value of the package is over $200 and we'll send everything to you free of charge, including return postage for your UOA. All we ask in return is that you participate in full and send back your oil for analysis.

If you're not a DIY'er, or just don't want to participate this time, please pass the opportunity along to someone else IN YOUR CLUB who will want to participate.

We know you have strong opinions about motor oil and we want to hear what you have to say. So click here to get signed up. We expect heavy demand for this offer - so don't wait. Join the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ Insiders today!

incase the link doesnt work.

I signed the Toyota up as I don't drive the crossfire enough to change the oil 3 times in one year.
and they might like the fact that the vehicle has 115,000 + miles on it.

Planning on being there. When you guys decide where to hook up let me know please. Probably the best place is that same commuter parking lot on 95 we usually hook ? Looking forward to it.
