Metro Washington, DC Dealer with Exp. Fixing Gear Popping Problem
My Crossfire has the gear popping problem discussed throughout this forum (pops out of 1st gear into neutral). According to discussions in other areas of this forum, the TSB requires the transmission to be taken out of the car, and I don't want some yutz doing it. I would be interested to know if anyone has had this problem fixed by a dealership in the metro DC area. I am willing to drive a little to ensure that my Crossfire is fixed (and does not become a training opportunity for a novice).
Thanks in advance!

Just call the local "5 Star" Dealerships and ask if they have done it before. It requires special tools they will need to order if they haven't done it before. Speak to the service manager if you can.
Mame,
I would try DARCARS Chrysler Service, ask for Paul Jones (Service Manager) at
301-622-0010 x 2250.
He is great. Talk to him.
Hope that helps.

I am in Texas and have the same problem. I had the car in for service already and they said it was fixed. Popped out 1 mile from the Chrysler place. Unfortunately I was leaving to visit relatives in SD for a few months and am just now coming back. The frequency is more and more and at times has been very scary since it happens as I pull out into the road. I do not want this car if the trnsmission has to be rebuilt. Any suggestions on lemon laws or what to do? I have had the car 9 months but have been out of state much of the time. I loose my dealer free tire warrenty if it is repaired elsewhere and I am mad at the dealership for assuming that I just don't know how to drive a stick. Help?
ParkXfire,
When you purchased the vehicle you should have received the lemon law paper work.
From what I can recall it goes something like this (I know if a am off base someone will correct me)
Vehicle must go back to service 3 times and not be repaired.
Then the regional Tech comes and does a diagnoses.
Then you must follow up with the proper process for Texas lemon law.
Then they should give you a new car.

Thanks. i do have this book and thought it was very strange and ironic now that this is the first car I have bought that included the Lemon Law book. I think if the only fix is to rebuild the transmission or put in a rebuilt transmission, i really do not consider this to be fixed as it was new. I do not trust rebuilt transmissions. Do you think that I should be satisfied if this is the result or should I insist that this is not as a new car shoudl have been? I need your opinion because as a women I typiclaly get screwed when it comes to things like this and I am so frustrated. thanks.
Here's the lemon law info from TXDOT. It looks like you have to give them four chances to fix the problem before it is considered a lemon. If it can be considered a serious saftey hazard, you only have to have two repair attempts. I don't think you have any recourse if they rebuild the transmission and it fixes the problem.

I agree, if they fix it be happy. Trying to argue that it is not new due to your problem they fix.........NEVER will fly.
On the other hand you are restricted to TXDOT as posted above.
It is a royal pain in the ****, but thats as good as it gets. Dealerships do not want to give you anything...reason for lemon law.

I agree. Then my argument after one more repair try will be safety. When it pops out of first, I could be in the middle of puling out a o busy street and could be hit. Anyway. Thanks to you.
