PT Cruiser
Are these things everywhere or what? Just got back from "Lost Wages" and had one as a rental. Guess it's an ok car for it's intended demographic but there are just too many of them. We saw so many that we made a game out of it and said you could only park in a spot if it was next to one! Can not tell you how happy I am to be home to my crossfire.
I guess Chryslers got to hit a home run very once in a while don't they? The funny thing is I bet more are bought by people they didn't expect in their demographic than they did. Real popular here in NY too and I bet most of them are purchased by people in their 40's or even older than that. I would have thought they would be big with kids but mine don't like them at all (other than the convertible). I see mostly people of my age driving them. I guess its like having the functionality of a wagon/SUV with the better gas mileage of a car. Not a bad choice. Probably why they're big in rental fleets as you suggest.
I owned a 1st year car. I ordered it and waited 9 months for the danged thing. I was able to get the color and options I wanted. It was worth the wait. I dearly loved that car. I like the feel, the quality and the space it had.
Sadly I totaled it by running it into a concrete barrier at about 65 mph on I-30 East of Dallas. Kinda jarring. At least I didn't take anyone out with me. I was a little gimpy for about a month. Otherwise, I came out okay.
The insurance money allowed me to by an interim car and save up for the red Crossfire I just bought. Wow! What a difference. I love it.

i had a silver '03 PT GT cruiser... thats the 2.4 turbocharged version with 220ish hp (that's real hp to the floor, same engine as srt-4) with a 4 speed automatic... i added a stage one mopar kit to bring the power up more, a '05 intake manifold for yet more hp, and then i lost interest slowly... when i sold it, the thing hauled A$$ bad ! it would have roasted and toasted the crossfire in a straight line.
I think quite a few of us Crossfire owners have had or still have PT's, myself included. I had a 2001 2.0 limited (sadly no proper GT in the UK). I would have kept it except I had to sell it to fund the Crossfire. There are some serious PT racing guys over at http://www.ptcrew.com. I just loved hanging out in that place - still do but it's not the same without having a PT.
