Jeep liberty, neon underneath?
Can anyone confirm if the Jeep liberty was built on the neon platform or not? I am 99.9% sure, that I read somewhere (Either Daimler chrysler newsletter, or a car magazine) that the jeep liberty was built on a "beefed" up neon frame, and had the same 4 cyl engine, with a v6 option. Something similar to the jeep compass and caliber, or charger/300c. Thanks.
nope... not built on the neon platform... but it is not your traditional jeep either as it sports a car like suspension and drivetrain making it feel much better for daily driving than the cherokee classic it replaces... downside is you can only use a 2.5 inch lift kit before the car like half shafts begin to bind at the cv joints and problems arise... the four cylinder option is again not a neon engine as it is a 2.4, identical block to the srt-4/stratus/pt/gt... you can even slip the ultra tough srt-4/gt pistons in it if you want to push 500 ponies safely through some form of forced induction... the four banger is available with a 6 speed manual in the newest years making it very appealing (this is the weakest part of the entire setup, no one has tested this transmission for how much power it can hold)...
