1978 Chevrolet Truck - Wheel Help Please
Hopefully someone on this forum will be able to help me out with this.
I have a 1978 Chevrolet K20 3/4 ton 4WD pickup. It has 8 lug wheels. I found a great deal on some stock wheels and tires off of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (also 8 lug).
My question is - will the 2005 wheels fit on my 1978?
I called the local Chevrolet dealer and the parts guys said 'Absolutely not,' but he couldn't really tell me why exactly.
The local tire/wheel place said 'Sure,' that the bolt pattern hasn't changed.
Any help is appreciated.

I think the bolt pattern will fit your truck, but the hole for the locking hubs will probably not fit. I've tried the same thing on my '90 suburban 4x4 1500. The new alloy wheels have the same 6 bolt pattern but I would need to machine out the center hole in the wheel so I can get the hub to fit. And after all that work, the new chevy wheels have incorrect offset so they look kinda goofy without bolt spacers. Trust me it's cheaper to buy an aftermarket wheel for your truck than go through all the trouble to make those wheels fit.
Maxwell is correct, BUT if the tires are 80% and the deal is good (like $50.00/tire). I'd get 'em and then pick up some inexpensive aftermarket wheels - you would be in cheap and be custom at the same time -
