... it is about the ugliest thing on four wheels, it had the same body style for over 10 years, and even when it first came out it did not look that good.
the 03's and newer are nice looking cars, but the 4th gen sl's drawing attention...only thing i can think is that the people are staring at how ugly the damn things are...
a 100k car? right...fully loaded they MSRP'd at $83,800, and can now be had for less than 30k.

anyways, to each their own.

i could go on but just figure every review of the car mentions how beautiful it is and how it is the car to own if you have money. it is a timeless design, maybe something difficult to grasp for the immature mind.

although it is my wife's car and i could careless about it, here is just an excerpt from wikipedia on the g6, "Within a year, this new car had become the 11th best selling car in the United States (2005), and won several consumer-based industry awards from JD Power (APEAL), Strategic Vision ("Total Quality" and "Delight") and became a Consumer Reports Recommended Buy. Car of the Year by the Spanish magazine Automundo[1][2]. GM leads all other automakers in Strategic Vision's Total Quality Index (TQI)".

to each their own...
but on the other hand my car has impressed quiet a lot of people driving nice cars themselves...
and the amount of compliments surpasses anything... and I am a guy that people have a hard time complimenting due to my unfriendly looks and style...

i think its a style that is much more mature than other cars, more classic, not flashy, simply stated. and the fact is, believe it or not, a benz says "i have arrived" more than a crossfire. i was just stating my experience. i'm pretty sure no one that has commented back has had the experience i have, driving both cars. i think the only way you can combat what i said is, if you have and had a different experience.
wrong...a new style benz states, "i have arrived!" older body style cars just dont do it, unless it's a classic car, or muscle car...
i also have had the ability to drive a sl55, sl65, and rode in an slr mclaren...they ARE nice cars, we are not saying their not...and i agree the 5th gen sl's do turn more heads and have more appeal than the xfire...but the 4th gen's turning heads...not where im from or anywhere i've been.

I just got back from seven days in NYC (Manhattan) and two days in East Hampton. During that entire nine day period, I saw only one Crossfire -- a white roadster parked outside of Lincoln Center with Pennsylvania plates. Spotted literally scores of Lambos, Bentleys, Ferraris, and every high-end M, AMG (including the new SL65s), and Porsche, but only that one single Crossfire.
Guys and gals, as long as MB/Chrysler has parts for this car, we have a very special and unique vehicle. As members of this forum you already knew that, of course, but it's always nice to have that perception confirmed again anyway. So take good care of your Crossfire; it's a real keeper.

Has anyone heard about that incident where a woman droved her Mercedes SL500 into the river? I've read that one of its Mercedes aftermarket parts, I think or stock, which is the sat nav had failed. She trusts its satellite navigation system even though there's a road sign.
She was luckily saved by a passerby before the car sunk completely into the river. That was terrible...

And here's another one. Perhaps it's a British thing.
