The Ultimate Track Car... 2006 Lotus Exige 240R
Just thought I'd share... they have been trying to sell this for months now. It's only 10 miles from me and every time I take my truck in for service I go and check it out. If only it was street legal!

Guess I’ll look at the Exige S instead...

The current issue of Car & Driver has a "one-lap" test with a bunch of cars, Z06, C6s, 911 Turbo, GT2 or 3, Bimmer and an Exige (normal street legal one) the thing almost beat everything there and was fastest through almost every corner - I think it weighed a hair over 2K lbs - must handle incredibly.
Yeah, they're having difficulty getting rid of the Cup cars because they are not street legal. Strictly a track toy. And since they don't race in any series here in the US, HPDE track days are all they're good for.
Actually, the ultimate Lotus track car is the new 2-11. Again, not street legal here but amazingly enough it is in the UK. No roof, doors, windows.

Lotus also announced in March the Lotus Exige GT3, which does race in the GT3 class in Europe and does very well. It notches everything up on the car quite a bit.
