Default The things you see on the roads of SoCal

So I'm heading out to lunch yesterday and I'm about a block away from the office, waiting at a light to make a left turn. Ahead of me is a fairly large overpass crossing the 405 FWY here in Orange County, right by John Wayne Airport. Damned if it didn't look like a F117 Stealth Fighter coming down the hill, and no wonder - that was the airplane that heavily influenced the design of this car. Almost $2,000,000 a copy, and only 20 built.

Yep, a Lamborghini Reventón. Rarer than a Bugatti Veyron, and more expensive too.

Love that area and John Wayne Airport. I used to travel there often on business.

I wonder if the Reventón's sweep angles can deflect incoming police radar waves.

Dan, that's real good thinking. I wonder if you let the cat out of the hat. Maybe that's the 2nd mill.

Lucky sighting! I drove the 405 past John Wayne for three years, never once saw something that pretty! The most exotic I've seen is an Enzo flying around Denver. Actually got to talk to the owner, he said there were only two of them in the state.

Back in the '80's when I lived in Orange County there was a dealer in Newport Beach that dealt in exotics. Sure had some nice looking iron in the showroom but back then (and even now) exotics were far above my pay grade.

Like Mike said, there are some amazing cars running around Southern Califoania.

There still is an exotics dealer on PCH in Newport Beach, right next to the now defunct Rolls Royce/Lotus dealer. Aston Martin recently opened a beautiful new showroom on Jamboree just a bit up from PCH - Orange County Aston Martin Dealer, Newport Beach, CA Aston Martin Dealer, Purchase or Lease a Aston Martin

Earlier this year Orange County Lamborghini closed their doors, but the sign is still up over the showroom and you can see it from the 55 FWY. They were the largest volume Lambo dealer in the world, accounting for about 10% of Lamborghini's annual sales. But the owners got into some shady business dealings and started dumping cars. They wrote the deals through VW Credit (VW owns Audi, who in turn owns Lamborghini) but actually sold the cars for far less - like the new Murcielago that reportedly was let go for $60,000 instead of the $240,000 MSRP!! They wrote 54 deals in 8 days to the tune of $12,000,000 and then took the money and ran.
