Thoughts on the new Mustang
For 2011, Ford is putting new engines in the Mustang:
The 2011 V6 Mustang will put out over 300 horsepower.
Crossfire owners are used to spanking Mustangs. The NA Crossfire will beat the current 4.0L V6 with its 210 hp and the SRT beats the current Mustang GT with its 300 hp. I don't think the Crossfire can compete with these new figures unless heavily modded. I don't know of any way to mod the NA Crossfire to anywhere close to 300 hp.
Thoughts?
With a bore of 92.2mm and a stroke of 92.7mm, the high-tech DOHC 32-valve engine under the hood of the 2011 Ford Mustang GT making its debut at the 2010 Detroit show displaces 4951cc. That figure legitimately rounds to 5.0 liters, unlike the 4942cc displacement of its pushrod predecessor. That overgenerous rounding drove some of us persnickety engineering types crazy for all those years, so right off the bat we're inclined more favorably toward this new V-8. Indeed there is a lot to like about this high-tech engine, starting with its output figures: 412 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque (on recommended but not required premium fuel, slightly less on regular no-lead).

It seems inevitable that the newer V-8s will finally challenge our 5 year old srt6s. I would love to see them try to keep up at the Dragon, however.
The new Mustangs (and the new Camaros) may be good for Crossfires in one sense. They'll be more attractive to teenagers so fewer Crossfires will be abused. On the downside, this means fewer parts in junkyards.
Given the ubiquity of Mustangs and their rapid depreciation, I wonder what our roads will be like in 5-10 years when Johnny turns 16 and gets his first car, a 400+ hp Mustang or Camaro. The new Mustang GT makes more power than a 911 Carrera S and almost as much as a base Corvette. With a few mods, I'm sure it will easily surpass it.
