What Did You Take to Your High School Prom?
I went to several different Proms in 1967, 68, and 69.
In 1968 (the year I graduated) since my Dad managed a New Car dealer, he brought home my favorite car to use for Prom night. A brand new, 68 red on red 390 AMX. (what else?!!??).
Looked just like this one.
1968 AMC AMX Pictures
Spent very little time at the prom, had a quick dinner, and spent the rest of the night cruisin in the X.
Never saw the girl again, but the car made quite an impression on me, and one and half years later I ordered a brand new AMX. Still have that car.

Didn.'t meet my wife until 12 years later, and we haven't been apart since then. Except for the 1st. 6 months of this year while she became a flight attendant. But she's home now because I asked her to stay.

For my senior prom in 1990, I had my '87 Camaro (2.8L V6, 5-speed). Black with grey on the bottom. The girl I took wanted to drive it so badly, but she only had her learners permit. I wouldn't let her drive it and the evening went downhill from there.
My prom was in 1968. Took my once new 1967 283 Chevelle which I had completely taken apart and rebuilt (headers, cam, 4brl Holley, cheater slicks etc etc. much to my dad's dismay, I wanted the 396, he said you get the 283) it was a wanna be....... didn't get my 70 1/2 Z-28 til a few years later.
4 Proms here. 65 & 66 with my school and 66 & 67 with hers. First 2 Proms drove an ugly 4 door, 6 banger/overdrive, black Ford Galaxy. Last 2 were in a white 66, 2 door hardtop Fairlane. Cars are long gone but the lady still keeps me out of mischief.
Took a 1938 black Chevrolet 2 door coupe hot rod with straight pipes and a 350 to my prom. Brakes were horrible, steering was loose, had to stick a wooden block under the wheel when parked so it wouldn't roll away, but in a straight line- what a car!
I was TAKEN to my senior prom in my boyfriend's new Jag XJS v12 English Racing Green. Beautiful car but later that night it lived up to the Jag rep & broke down. We ended up at the beach in his other car - a 1992 Chevy Blazer 4x4. That was a very fun night!!

Me and a couple friends rented a Limo Navigator. Very nice.
Except on the way back my friend got sick and I had to give up my seat for him, so I got to sit in the cramped corner seat.
Besides you couldn't really take a car to the prom. You would've been hard pressed to find a parking spot near the hotel (the hotel was on South Beach).
