Everybody Remembers Their First
Rather mundane, but it went from A to B.
1954 Austin Somerset, this is not mine, but same color, I've gone full circle, the Crossfire is blue.
My plate number was OYY 397, it's amazing what you can remember.

Puke green 1970 Datsun 510. Bought used in 1980...long before I became a "car guy".
A university friend liked to work on them as a hobby & he found the one I had rusting away parked beside a barn out in the country. He got it running and sold it to us for $500. Thing had personality...it absolutely refused to start in the winter which was OK as we walked everywhere back then anyway. The bumpers rusted & fell off & you couldn't find them anywhere at scrap yards so I installed 2 x 6 boards painted flat black. For a while it just had the nasty rusty brackets which kept tail-gaters at a safe distance.

My first car, a gift from my parents, was a '97 Camaro V6. I later bought a Jet-Ski, didn't have a truck so I attached a hitch to the car. Got lots of weird looks at the dock, lol.

Dave, that was one unique looking automobile.
Buck, wasn't the Datsun 510 considered to be the Japanese BMW 318?

Indelibility, the onlookers at the dock were probably all admiring the hot looking "matching" set up you had.
I had a Black 94 Z-28, fastest car I ever had until I got my Viper.
I almost bought my Daughter a Camaro that looked exactly like yours, Hi-Po V6, factory dual exhaust, T-Tops, 5-spd. but she's "manually challenged" so I got her a new red Honda Civic EX automatic instead.
(She's owns a white Crossfire Roadster now).

That car just refused to die. Years later after it had been sitting rusting away in my driveway for about a year (replaced by a brand new first version Ford Escort - gulp) we noticed an old faded note stuck under the windshield wiper. Guy offering to buy it if the motor was good to swap into his girlfriend's car. He came over & I put the old battery in...it started right up & he drove it away - no plates, soft tires and all! The Escort fell apart after only 5 years!
Believe it or not FP, the Dodge dealer my Dad worked at actually sold those. I remember they had one in the showroom when I was about 10 years old. I think it had a single cylinder, 10,12 or possibly 15 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. It was street worthy as well.

Of course, times change and I won't drive anything without a 3rd pedal, lol.
My first car was a 1948 Plymouth Club Coupe. I paid $50. Installed a Dodge V8. Removed the chrome and filled the rear side windows. no picture. Gary
Evan that car looked beautiful, I dated a girl who had a light green one like that (sure didn't look as good as yours did in red).
Gary, My Dad purchased a 46 Plymouth Club Coupe brand new (it was his first new car).
What size Dodge V8 did you put in it?

It was a salvaged 277. I did not know Hemi at the time. gary
1st Car owned at age 16 was a white, 1968 Ford Galaxie 500
It was destroyed when T-Boned at which time I purchased a 1970 Bronze coloured Barracuda.
A few years later while in college, I purchased a 1974 Datsun Pickup, which I later re-painted a light brown, put fat wheels with white rims on it, customized the grill and de-badged the entire truck.

Tony, I came very close to ordering a 1970 Challenger 440 RT the same color as your Cuda back in 1969. Ordered my AMX (same color) instead.
My brother had a bright green 1973 Datsun pickup brand new, and my cousin had a 72, they both drove em into the ground.

I remember trading the Datsun in and the Volvo dealership gave me $25 for it....I was happy to just have it off my hands. I still own the '82 Volvo and this year it turned 30 which made it eligible for "Historical" plates, here in Ontario. The photo attached was taken two years ago where it was among the highest scoring cars at 98.7%, attending a Concourse d'Elegance event held by the Antique Classic Car Club of Canada. It only gets out about 3 or 4 times a year now...and is very much my garage queen.
