Everybody Remembers Their First
My old '58 got a little rusty under the battery, which is under the back seat, as you know. I could see the road going by as I zoomed down the street. It rusted away into thin air.
The '58 got traded in for a '66. My dad had a '67 till it croaked, then bought a brand new '73.
Many cars later, it was Crossfire time!
That's a nice oval window Vee Dub you've got there, FP.

It doesn't matter how old you are, (or how many you've had since) we all remember our 1st. car.
Here's some photos of one that's like mine. Only mine had a a teal green interior, and Crager SS wheels.

Hey Mike. I just sent you a PM. My first car was a old 55' Chevy four door. My first new car was a 1974 AMC Gremlin X.
My first car was a 65 Corvair Monza 110 convertible, just didn't do much for a 16 yr olds image and I thought I was really something when I traded it for a 68 Impala convertible with a 307 and a "three on the tree".
Had a blast in the Corvair though, mine was Aqua blue with a white top.

Just out of curiosity Lorne, what was your 1st. "New" car?
Remember, keep that Challenger polished up for me.
Hello Mike How is the shoulder doing. My First new car was a 1956 Ford 272 cubs Go like a scalded cat sure had fun with that car. Then went to Dodge in 63. Still there. Hope you are feeling much better. Say Hi!. to Barb. Lorne
1966 Corvair Corsa turbo 140hp. Loved that car - especially when the rear end would swing around and shake hands with me when we met in the front in decreasing radius downhill benders ;-)
I lost it in a sand pile in Ft. Lauderdale when the trans gave up and at the same time as my wallet. It looked almost as nice as this one...

My first car, in 1960 was a 1939 Ford businessman's Coupe. We brought it home in Boxes and crates on a trailer.
This is the car where I spoke about my biggest mistake. Almost dropped the engine/tranny on my head.
I was 13 at the time.
I spent two years learning how to work on every part of that car and rebuilding it. We had a donor car for parts.
Not mine but it looked exactly like it except for the rear wheel skirt fairings. My interior was dark blue button tucked.
I was always amazed at the power of that flat head V/8. And once, when I ran out of gas, I got it home climbing hills on the starter and rolling down the other side.
Trunk was big enough to put eight foot lumber inside.
In 1964, I came home one day from school to find it gone. Dad had sold it to a dirt track racer in order to make the house payment. I had to start all over again with the family Pontiac. A 56 Starchief, four door hard top with over 140K on the clock. Nice 316 motor though. Bored it out to 352 CUID with a huge four barrel Rochester carb. I dissassembled the car to the frame and restored and repainted every part of the car. Reassembled it, new interior, and drove it for years. It stayed in the family unitl 1980 so each of my four brothers had their turn at it.

My first car was a 1950 Ford 2 dr coupe. It was a flat head 6 , 3 speed on the column with overdrive which was activated with a pull lever. Color was Harthorne Green Poly. I installed a 54 Chevy grille, fender skirts, de-chromed the entire car, dropped the rear with lowering blocks, placed 56 Olds flipper hubcaps and porta-white walls on all tires...split the exhaust manifold for duals and used "Hollywood" mufflers...showed, with pride, at that time, a car club plaque reading: Hot Rod Street Devils"..Man, what a car!!!. All this was done in 1956!!!
My first was a 1966 AMC Rambler with the 3 speed manual on the column
Owned this one for about 6 months back in 1978

Then my next car (2nd one) was my first muscle car
A 1970 Pontiac LeMans Sport with a 351- V8- 4 barrel carb and a 2 speed power glide transmission, Dual Exhaust, and a kick a$$ stereo

An old friend of mine had a 70 or 71, T37 3 speed LeMans that only had a 2 brl, and it screamed.
You've seen my first car. It was the 65 Comet. That was the hand-me down from my dad. My first new car was a 73 Vega GT like this one, but in green.
