Default Stolen 62 vette

Since a lot of us do car shows, and pay attention to the special ones we run across even just in passing, thought I'd post this up for a vette forum member.. I'd be sick!

1962 Corvette Stolen in Pacific Grove - Corvette Forum

Hey Guy's,

Unfortunately, our 1962 Corvette (of 20 years), was stolen last night (August 17th, 2013).

We were in attendance of the Rolex Motorsports Re-union for the festivities. We stayed at a very nice Bed and Breakfast Inn located in Pacific Grove.

My wife and I went to dinner, returned about 08:30 hours.

Another guest at the inn arrived at approximately 09:30 hours and noticed the Corvette was not in the designated parking location.

They didn't think too much of it because it was still somewhat early.

Additionally, there were 8-10 people eating dinner not more than 20' from the car!!!!! Very bold on the thief's part!

Anyway, please be on the look-out for my car in the pictures provided.

The hood is very distinctive as well as the front wheels. The color is russo red and is much deeper red than appears in this photo.

This pic doesn't show the hardtop. Unfortunately I just placed the hardtop on the car after recently restoring the entire top!

A Police report has been filed with the Pacific Grove Police Department. PG1300883

Please contact me (owner), Pat 916 719-9442

Don't believe it

I grew up in Watsonville Ca. and know of 3 corvettes stolen just like this

these were thefts arranged by the owner (note the careful alibi)

sometimes the car is insured through 2 company's for a profit

or just one for the sake of getting out from under debt

the thief would be given a key, and the car just disappears.

it is then parted out, and anything with a serial number is destroyed.

some things to consider:

these days there are cameras everywhere, why not park near one?

why didn't the car have an alarm, or a low-jack? (if it were mine, it would have one)

even a $30 'club' would have prevented this

if there were people 20 feet away, the thief must have had a key

signed 'skeptical in Annapolis'

Cheers

Dennis B

Yeah I had read that.. was just going to let the "scam" post go.. Don't know any finance company that will sign you up for a 20 year note on a car..

Searching the net I ran across a story of a couple purchasing one from Hagarty for his wife's birthday.. drove around that day.. valet parked next to their Bently.. and was gone the next morning.. OUCH.. LOL.

Corvette was found... Seems that forum doesn't update with emails like we do here. So much for the insurance scam theory..
