Yes, it is Front Wheel Drive. This particular one has a 3.0L Chrysler V6 and 4 Speed Automatic Transmission (NO SlapStick). Could have been bought with 2 different Turbo 4's. One is the 2.2T we all know (Daytona,Le Baron, etc) and the other had a Cosworth DOHC Head which was the "HOT" engine. A Manual Trans was available also.
Body assembled in Italy (The Maserati Part) and the engine, trans, suspension and lots of other goodies were shipped there from MOPAR. Lots of other countries contributed, as well.

My Le Baron GTC VNT is a front wheel drive as well. It only came with the Getrag 5 speed because the engine torque (210) was too much for the automatic. The varible-nozzle turbo IV was developed by Garrett. It had a ring of vanes that could open and close, so that a conventional wastegate was not needed. The vanes were controlled by relays. When you accelerated hard, the vanes would close so that the boost ( it came with a boost gage) would build and then as you reached your speed and let up on the gas the vanes would open, to release the pressure. It is a fast acting turbo with almost no turbo lag. When MotorTrend tested this car at its introduction, they got o-60 times of 7.2. However, on mine I got about 6.8 (unofficial). The engine gets great gas milage. I get between 28 to 34, depending on several factors, AC on and speed. But I can average 30 mpg at 75 mph steady without AC. The engine, a four cylinder, had balance shafts, so it ran smoothly at high speed, which always impressed me. It had a beefed-up suspension, so it really holds the road well. In fact it was originally planned to come with a selectable ride control with three settings. However, this feature was cancelled before production, because Chrysler thought it would cause too much trouble.

I know it's not a chrysler, but the Detriot international auto show is here next week and they are showing some of the cars on the local news here, I'm going to see for myself next week, but the Saturn Sky is a new little roadster that looks pretty cool! Good thing I love my XF!

Speaking of the new concept cars, I'm trading the XFire in on the Firepower...if Peggy lets me...

Hey Dan Root -- keep throwing darts at Redcross!!!! It's good sport for the rest of us!!! And yeah, you should see his baby book, it's pretty cool (if you have 3 hours to look through it...)

You guys are great -- a bunch of car crazies. Me? I only have the one car (The XFire). But I have four TRUCKS!

Happy FRIDAY!!!!!

Yeah, thanks Red! But Dan may have a point. If I include it in my signature, people may get the undesirable notion that I'm claiming the girl car. And that just wouldn't do, you see. Boy, such decisions!

:P

Question Re: Earlier Chrysler 2 Seater

I know this is an old thread but I just joined yesterday and I've been reading all these topic's so I thought I'd jump in.
Wouldn't you consider a Sunbeam Tiger another Chrysler 2 seater of mixed ancestry? After all, Chrysler bought them up in the late 60's and even had to offer a warranty on the Ford powered "Maxwell Smart" motivator.

EXCELLENT!!!

I even forgot about that one. I think they had 273ci V8 (same as in the late 60's Barracudas). And also 260 Ford V8s...If my "OLD" memory serves me...

I never heard of one with Mopar motivation but I suppose anything's possible. I do think Chrysler gave it some thought though. I suppose a trip to a Tiger web site would jog our collective memories.
