That made our daughter give up the idea of having any Roush ground effect mods put on it. Those make it even lower, which would make it impossible to go up some of the steep entrance ways into parking lots without scraping.

A cool thing I learned with this mustang that I never saw before...
The windows open about 1/2 - 3/4 inch when you open the doors and close back up after the door shuts. It happens really fast. That makes it very easy to close them and if both doors happen to get closed at the same time, they both close easily.

If I'm not mistaken its also done primarily so they butt up against the rubber seals more tightly when you reclose the windows. Nice lookin car.

yeah... both of my last bmw coupes (e46) did this. its a nice touch.

on my crossfire... only in the cold winter months... the window does sometimes great hung up on the outside the upper black trim. of course... dealer can't duplicate... at time of service.

Here's a quote from a Forbes review in early 2004 that was otherwise very favorable about the Crossfire in every other way:
"Open the door of a Chrysler Crossfire and you may or may not notice something missing.

"You'd notice something missing if you've been shopping across the segment of near-luxury sports cars priced at $30,000 to $40,000. Because then you might be opening the doors to a lot of two-seaters, say for instance that of the $29,250 Infiniti G35 Sports Coupe. What happens when you open that car's door that doesn't happen on the Crossfire? The window drops, ever so slightly.

"Close the door on that Infiniti and the window would hold its millimeter-lower position for just an instant, then bump back upwards, flush with the rubber seal.

"This tiny detail isn't so tiny--a lot of carmakers that employ rimless doors (where there's no bracket of metal around the glass) use this mechanism these days because over time it saves the rail that holds the window on track. So, say 50,000 miles of door slamming later, the window still shuts tight against the door frame, and retains a weatherproof and windproof seal."

It's obviously a nice engineering touch, and I wish we had it too, but we don't, so just be careful when you close the doors...

Wouldn't the design of the weather strip also have alot to do with why the window drops. I mean, I've never looked closely at a Mustang, or a Bimmers weather strip. But is there a specific "groove" that the edge of the window fits into when the window is fully closed? If so, then the window would have to drop everytime the door is opened or closed just so the window could successfully "seat" into the weather strip.
I would think this design of weather strip would be very good at shutting out unwanted, and annoying drafts.
But what happens when the battery goes dead?

Mine does the same thing...the passenger side window gets hung up on the rubber and you have to put the window down a bit shut the door and then put the window back up. Was waiting til I see the dealer for the next service and ask them about that.

Good info, Thanks for your posts.
I went out to see the trim of the window opening on the car and noticed that it has hard plastic molding on the outside that comes down farther than the rubber trim inside, and the window slides in between the 2 when the door is closed. I'm sure that helps with window leaks of water and wind. I don't think they could do that as well with the Crossfire Roadster because the edge has to be more flexible so it can fold down. That would help eliminate the water that drips inside the windows when I spray it with the hose water.

Wow, someone else had a Sapporo! I really liked mine too, it was a great little car, had a huge four cylinder with lots of torque. In fact, Porsche leased the patent from Mitsubishi for the counter-balancing shafts for the engine in the 944. (Betcha didn't know that!! lol)
