and i swear ive seen those pedals before somewhere...
but on a more appropriate note, is the 6-speed adapted from the Viper? How annoyed must SRT8 owners be that they cant get a 6-speed with their new 300/Charger/Magnum etc...

Now the big question is,"will they build it?" Or is it just a styling exercise.
After all, it wasn't that long ago Chrysler was very adamant that nobody wanted to own 2dr. cars any more, and that's why they gave us the 4 dr. Charger.
In what seems to be an "olive branch" offering, (to appease all those who complained about the Chargers extra "portals") Dodge throws us a bone in the form of a retro styled Challenger.
But even if it actually does materialize, I still won't be able to get my paws on one until the fall of 2007 as an '08 model.
Oh sure, that's only going to be 3 years after Fords redesigned Mustang hit the streets, but I suppose that's better than Dodges last response time to a new Mustang. You remember, the one that took Dodge 6.5 years to acknowledge it.
So I guess all I can do is wait and see what D/C finally decides to do.
Still I can't stop wondering if the new Challenger might not have been even more desirable if they would have made a few "minor" styling changes, and called it the "HEMI CUDA II". Along with a different grill and tail lights, a few "gills" in the fenders may work wonders!
+fireamx...In the Charger forum which I frequent most of them seem to feel the Challenger is a go and in fact they have the same dilemma you do...can or should we wait? The reason for the Challenger name is because it was originally a Dodge and of course Cuda was the Plymouth version so with the Plymouth name gone they must have felt the necessity to stick with the Challenger name. The car is gorgeous and everyone seems to feel they will sell a boat load if the thing is ever produced. In fact all of us in the Charger forum sent a letter to Chrysler asking them to build the darn thing. Power in numbers I guess...haha. One more note if they offer this beast with the 6.1 hemi hold on...it will be a mighty fast car.

I was just speculating, because everybody is so "HEMI CUDA" nutz right now, (and have been for so long) that I just figured Mother Mopar might as well "cash in" on the feeding frenzy. After all, even though the Plymouth trade mark is gone, I'm pretty sure Chrysler still owns the rights to it.
When it comes to an automotive "family" of cars, sometimes a cars name gets switched around every once in awhile. For instance, in Europe the Viper is known as the Chrysler Viper, etc.
As a former "Original" Challenger rag top owner Kmag, are you wondering (like I am) if there's going to be a topless version in its future?

After all, a 2 door car, and a 2 seat car are TWO very different animals entirely.
The fact a car has only 2 seats turns alot of potential buyers away, if for no other reason than practicality. Where as, just look at how many "dyed-in-the-wool" sports car fanatics there are on this web site alone that seem to be chomping at the bit to put the new Challenger in their garage.
Personally, I don't want a Challenger to replace my Crossfire, I want one to compliment it.
I came within a "pens stroke" away from ordering a 440 Challenger RT thirty six years ago. The way I look at it, "how often do you get a second chance to relive your past?"
