Ever Wondered What Became of Your First Car?
Ever Wondered What Became of Your First Car?
Well, by dump luck I happened to be searching cars.com for the hell of to see what I could get for less than $1000 and after a few pages I spot something that looked familiar...
My first car was a garage kept 1993 Cuttlass Supreme Convertible with the 3.4L 205hp engine with only 53,355 miles on in back in '03. And, to keep a long story short I babied it from day one. No, it wasn't perfect but to me it was.
Here's some pics of it one week before I sold it (2005 with 67k miles):

And my cardomain link (keep in mind a lot of this info was pre my current car knowledge... no hatin):

Re: Ever Wondred What Became of Your First Car?
After completely restorin My grandfather's 1939 FORD bussiness man's Coupe (started at the age of 15)Ii came home one day to find that my parents had sold it to a guy who needed a new one to run at the dirt track.
Apparently we were poorer than I knew.
Mom & Dad made the house payments up, we got to eat another month.
The car got a Chevy 348 an all the dents and damage I had fixed were soon replaced with brand new ones.
A bit later,I got the family sedan, 1956 Pontiac Starcheif HT and a new project. It stayed with the family, brother to brother until 1980.
Scrap yard came to haul it off, car started and the dealer drove it home.
Last I heard, it still runs.
It now resides in Jennings MO.
Cannot say as much for the FORD.

I know where my first car is. It was a 1983 Mercury Zephyr - baby blue, four door, with a finely tuned straight six in it that on a good day could outrun a few snails.
After I was done with it - I was pretty hard on the old tub - the junk yard dump truck gave me $35 for it because the battery in it was still good. It went into a car crusher and has probably been made into something far more useful, like ashtrays, ballast, or door stops.

That is a good story and many here probably wish they could say the same, sometimes that first car and the memories of it are pretty special.
Not many of them Jeepsters made and for sure not many left.

Nope never wondered about the first car.
I saw it go to the crusher and watched it get turned into a flattened piece of metal right before my eyes....and that was pretty cool to watch.
Now as for all the other cars...well I'm sure most are no longer out there on the road.

First car was a red 75 Vega wagon. Replaced an 83 Yamaha Vision motorcycle I had driven cross country. The Vega annoited itself Pope one day when I turned over the ignition. Replaced it with an 85 Camaro. The only car I ever bought new. Copper, V6, T-tops.
Sometimes it's not the first, but sloppy seconds that matter...

I had the Olds vesion from '75. Body evaporated at 200K. Sold it for a buck to a freind's kid. It's engine now powers a small jetdrive boat.

My first car was a 64 malibu SS red convert that was a POS and I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. $350 same as I paid for it.. Maybe I should have restored that one. Then I bought a 67 Ford Custom 500, sh!tmobile, and then i bought a new 73 Gremlin X that I absolutely loved until I traded it 2 years later for a 75 Nova SS which I had for at least 10 years and loved that car. paid 3500 for it, saw it last when it drove away with 150K on the odometer and got 1100 for it.
