That would be quite a concept to work with. Seems very similar to HEUI injectors found in pretty much all diesel engines of late. Great idea, I hope they run withit and make it a widely available concept. Imagine a crossfire with no camshafts!

Looks like it's time to sell that 100,000 shares of "Crane Cams Inc." stock.

Formula 1 engines have been using pneumatically controlled valves for a few years now. From 1995 to 2005 F1 was running 3.0L V10 engines and they were running as high as 20,000 rpm, and traditional valve springs just couldn't keep up, so pneumatic valve actuation was developed. From 2006 through this current season the formula changed to 2.4L V8 engines restricted to 18,000 rpm. By the way, both of these engine formulas were naturally aspirated and the 3.0L V10s were producing some 800+HP and the current 2.4L V8s are still making 750HP or so.

Next year the formula changes again, with 1.6L V6 turbo engines being required, and limited to "just" 15,000 rpm. Should be interesting, since last time turbo engines were the norm in F1 BMW was getting over 900HP out of 1.5L 4 banger at roughly 12,500 revs.

"900HP out of 1.5L 4 banger " Wow! I have to look into this.

Electric motors, cars that drive via computer, wheres the fun. I might as well grab a beer and attach a wheel to my computer.

Rummer has it that the next Miata will have a 1.5L. Hum...
