Top end rebuild after 33K reliable miles.

I always wanted a 903 Saki. Back in its day it had about the same rep. the Hayabusa has today.
I decided to go with the Gold Wing when it came out in 1975 instead. It ran a 12.9 to the 903's 12.0 sec 1/4 mile. But after bumping the timing up, I got it down to 12.5 with an extra wide rear tire.
A few years ago, I missed a chance to pick up a beautiful low mileage burgandy/red Z1 off its original owner (my Wife's cousin). He said that he forgot that I wanted it, and sold it for $1200 to a stranger.
As it turned out, I've owned several Hondas, a Yamaha, and a Suzuki, but no Kawasakis.

 

Cool! I love the vintage Jap bikes. My wife and I ride that Z1 all over MN every summer. It's such a great bike, super reliable, comfortable, good power. It's almost all stock (mufflers) even original paint. Valves seem fine just needs new timing chain rollers and idlers they wore out letting the cams get out of time. No damage luckily.

By the way, I've got two friends that each own AMC's. One Javalin (spelling?) and one AMX. Both cars are pretty sweet.

 

Finally got her done.
New: cam chain, idlers, sliders, gaskets, lapped valves, replaced valve seals, re-shim, etc....
RUNS GOOD!
