Feeler: FS Windshield Trim surround PAINTED graphite metallic
Hi all,
I recently purchased a new set of windshield trim pieces and had them professionally painted graphite metallic to match my xfire. The result looks awesome, but there's just one problem. The rubber molding on the drivers side piece (the part that rests against the windshield) has these little nicks in it. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but sadly I am very OCD and it bothers me immensely. With that said, any sane person would say that they are small enough to not be noticeable unless you looked really close and someone pointed it out to you.
I'm looking to recoup my cost by selling these to a forum member and get a brand new set painted (which will not be cheap for me but c'est la vie). As others have pointed out, the trim alone is ultra expensive from the dealer (~$1000 for set) or even from a 3rd party parts dealer (upwards of $400-$500 for the set). The pieces were painted to match and are properly clearcoated.
In order to break even on parts and painting costs, I need to sell them for $300 plus actual shipping cost to you. Since I realize this is optimistic, I'll accept offers.
I can provide pictures upon request. And then there will be cake.
Thanks.

I think this is awesome, and if I did not have my CF surrounds, I would probably consider them. VERY reasonable price, considering the price of the surrounds and professional paint, hell I paid $300 to have mine coated
One thing to think about, all these cars are subtly different, especially this color, some more blue/green/gray. You may want to send one piece to the potential buyer and have him put it in the sun with his clean car to make sure they are perfect. Even a slight discoloration would make them look silly IMHO.

It's true, there is an extremely subtle difference in the color due to the different material types. For the most part though, unless your car has been sitting out in the sun for 6 years straight paint discoloration is almost a non-issue. I can't afford to keep shipping pieces just to see if the color matches (in an optimal world I could do this), but it's going to be pretty darn close... buyer keep this in mind please. I notice no difference between the color of my graphite and the pieces.
Pictures attached. Sorry I don't have better quality, they were taken this morning just before my flight with my only digital "camera" (iphone) so I'll try to describe everything. The florescent lighting is making it seem lighter than it really is in a few photos, but you get the idea. In the 4th picture you can kinda see these little nicks, some meguiars products should be able to mask it for the most part. As I said before, there's no way to tell from standing more than a foot or two away from the car, and you have to look at it just right. There is also a small spot on the top trim piece that is slightly darker. I tried to find it this morning but couldn't... so that should tell you how minuscule the blemish is.
Responding to PMs... also, I think $300 is more than reasonable for these pieces all things considered. It looks 10,000x better than the stock silver pieces.

I am not trying to pee in your pool, just trying to make sure everyone is happy with the transaction. Your price is more than fair, you will get it when the right guy comes along....
I get what you're saying, but the "graphite metallic" color that I purchased in spray can form from chrysler was an exact match to my car, which is indeed graphite metallic. Mine is a 2005. I'm not doubting your knowledge, all I can say is this is the factory match directly from chrysler and it's going to be pretty damn close to whatever "variation" of graphite metallic you have. That is really all I can comment on the subject.
Whatever the case, this isn't a discussion on paint variations. This is a classified listing. I will kindly ask that if you would like to continue this discussion offline, please send me a PM. Either that, or we can start another thread to discuss this topic.
I hope I don't sound harsh or anything, I just do not want to scare people off because they think their car won't match. Your point has been noted, thanks for the info.

Actually, there are three 6's parked at my home. I have a Black Coupe with the silver trim painted out and my wife has a Graphite Metallic Roadster. My son has a Graphite Metalic Coupe that he wants to trade for my Black car. I am considering the trade as I preffer the Graphite myself. If you will provide better photos, I will consider your sale.

I can try to take pics when i get back, but they'll still only be iphone quality. Stay tuned! (good choice on the color)
I went out and took 3 more pictures in daylight, though due to the angles I can't really get decent photos without reflections. Realistically it looks better in person but I've done my best with what I have.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Looks pretty good, but I am color deficient....and prejudice to RED
I'm still waiting for the one owner to go ahead and have the whole car chromed....sorry, won't be me w/o a lottery win.

$300 is a good price, and even if you don't have a graphite XFire, you could cover these with a carbon fiber wrap, and they would look awesome. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks to the fact that this classified ad has turned into a debate on paint shades, I believe most people are wrongfully turned off by the pieces now. Not sure why I bothered, I'm not even making any money on the deal, just recouping costs.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only thing wrong with this set is the worn out rubber molding on the drivers side piece and a small discoloration on the top piece, both only noticeable to the owner who knows it's there. Period.
Thank you to all who have commented!

I have attached more pictures at dusk, minimal reflections. Aside from iphone quality, I think this proves my point.
for all the potential buyers here... pics for metallic paint are extremely diffucult to analyze. i had close to 30 fotos of the everest green metallic paint on my slk32 to look at and every shot the color changes and the metallic changes. the price and work on these look to be high quality and fair. as a reference to get a dozen paint chips fixed on my hood was 850$ because of the metallic. better get them while you can!
Item has been SOLD to a good home, to a member that is fully aware of everything that has been discussed on this thread. Thanks all!
