Re: Trailer Hitch
Color code guide for wiring hookup would be helpful for me when you send the hitch, if you don't mind.

Trailer Wires --------------- Crossfire Wires 1. Green (right turn signal) -- Orange in right trunk 2. Yellow (left turn signal) --- Orange in left trunk 3. Brown (running lights) ----- Red either left or right trunk 4. White (ground) ------------ Brown, ground nut on either wheel well 5. Blue (brake light) ----------- Green either left or right trunk If you use the Harbor Frieght Trailer you will need to add brake lights with a 5 wire connector or use a tail light converter with a 4 wire connector because the Crossfire has seperate Brake and Turn Signal wires. We used the 5 wire connector and brake lights for our set up. |
Re: Trailer Hitch
Thank you for the wiring info., will save time, and much appreciated. I'm purchasing my receiver and drawbar for this and wanted to confirm that the height using that Harbor Freight trailer is on the money with your sons new set up, or could it be up or down an inch or ?? for a level trailer. I'd like to buy the right drawbar at the same time I order my receiver. I'm not interested in the big bulky adjustable ones.

Re: Trailer Hitch
Using a level, it looks as if the trailer hitch should be 2" lower to be perfectly level with the 12" wheeled ebay trailer. Hope this helps you prep your set up.

Re: Trailer Hitch
Bob,
Give me a call before you get ready to install, I can save you a few steps of not removing things that you can get around. For the others waiting on a hitch, the last of them will ship tomorrow. |
Re: Trailer Hitch
I have been looking at your hitch.....I have one question about the weight limits....how did you come up with them.....I need something that can handle 1200 lbs.

Re: Trailer Hitch
Papas - The Crossfire hitch is only bolted to the thin metal of the trunk pan, their is no frame. The Crossfire manual states that the car is limited to 500LBS of load including passengers and baggage. So, I have set a personnal limit of 500LBS including the weight of the trailer and material. If you decide to put 1200LBS behind your Crossfire, you are at your own risk.
