Trailer Hitch

1 Attachment(s)
My sons Autocross trailer hitch is completed and installed, the fitment is perfect. This is a very light weight hitch assembly, for a 500lb total weight trailer or bike rack attachment only. Not for pulling a boat or vacation trailer!!

For anyone interested I can have additional hitches made for $325 plus shipping (45lb package costs $50 to ship to west cost). This will include all bolts, braces and brackets. This is my cost, no profit in it. If you think the price is to high, please find another hitch supplier. I am doing this purely for the support of forum members with a need for a Trailer Hitch.

Damn diffusers.

I could use an AutoX trailer for tires, tools, etc. but that new CF hood on the way ate that budget up in a hurry.

Thanks for doing this, obviously you have a monopoly on this very small market and the fact you are not trying to profit is exemplary...

Actually the stock diffuser panels can be re-installed after a little trimming. :D

Looks good.
Did you build the trailer too?

Re: Trailer Hitch

No, thats a standard Motorcycle Trailer. It hold everything I need for the day, so i can keep the crap out of the car. My son is going to use a standard Harbor Frieght trailer for his tires and gear, it's a cheaper way to go.

How much for a set of prints? ;) Glad to see you got them done up in a reasonable price range.

Not when you have custom metal accent pieces attached to the diffusers as well, and they will not go under any knife :D

Re: Trailer Hitch

MrMiata - You would need to buy a hitch and make your own prints. I'm not willing to take away from the machine shop that did the work anymore then I am from you guys. The shop owner really hooked us up doing one of a kind work that would not likely result in mass production. The same shop did my Modified Intake Manifolds. The hitch design changes he made are lighter and better then the first one I did for my car.

You are welcome to take prints from my car hitch, but we will have to figure out a time and place for you to get to look at it. The real difficulty is the tilt and angle of the rear pan, it's opposite on each side.

I understand, sounds like you will need a truck and trailer.

Already do, just would be nice to be able to go to the track without the GF needing to drive the support vehicle + trailor. I guess I can not have it all... yet :D

Same reason I went for the hitch and small trailer. I live for seat time.

Please don't let this die just yet. I am interested but have a few questions. How much weight does it add? How is it different from the first one you made? Would it be pre-primed and painted? Very generous that you are offering doing this. Thank You.
Edit: Is that trailer of yours in your Gallery the 4' or 5' model?

Re: Trailer Hitch

I have not weighed the complete unit off the car. I would say that the entire assembly incuding the removable bar, bolts and backing plates is less then 50lbs. Nearly half of the wieght is removed when the reciever hitch is unpinned and taken off. The two hitch assemblies are bolted to the car, like any other hitch and all that shows from the back when the reciever is removed are the two small hitch openings. There are photos in my gallery.

This hitch is a better fit for the Crossfire, it is lighter then the hitch made for my car and the angle and tilt of the connection points are in perfect alignment. The kit is complete and painted black.

My trailer is the 5' model, the opening in the 4' model will not support 4 race tires. I would recommend a Harbor Frieght trailer if your using it primarily for racing gear, it's much cheaper and the tire spread is wider making it easier to back.

Your welcome. I will be wiring my sons hitch and can give you a color code guide for hooking up your light connections if needed.

Thank you for that info. I'll P.M. you tonight after work. Now isn't a great time for me with the finances, but I want to do this before the opportunity slips away. You've done a great job w/ this; yes I would like one. :) Bob

One hitch has been ordered. If anyone else has ever wanted a hitch for their Crossfire, now is the time.

Thank you for getting this done for me, it's much appreciated. Like he said guys, for those that are thinking about this, this is a great opportunity. This design is really pretty much the only way to do this right, and all the R.&D. has been done for you. I'll be installing this my self, but not really looking forward to it(the install part). lol
