Re: Trailer Hitch
Just sold my truck, and need a method to move my little trailer/mower. Yours sounds great! Is it still available? Retirement is great, but have to make cutbacks.
Thanks, Bob |

Thanks, Bob Just spoke to the machine shop that did the hitch work and they will do another batch if there is interest. I need to know if there are any other crossfire owners who want a hitch for their cars. The price is the same $325 plus shipping. |

I'll order one if you can get it made. Does it require a welder to install? If not I will install it myself.
Thanks again, Bob |
Re: Trailer Hitch
Is it still possible to purchase a hitch form the machine shop that made yours??
Thanks, Jim |
Re: Trailer Hitch
I'd really like to purchase the hitch hardware. Is it still available??
Thanks! |
Re: Trailer Hitch
I can ask about another batch but would need 5 orders for the shop to put the time into this.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

you do realize you are replying to a 6 yr old post from someone who hasn't posted here since 2007??? reading backwards will save you a lot of time and reduce your aggravation level when you don't get a reply.

Re: Trailer Hitch
There are acouple different ways that have been done.
Depends on if they want to leave the exhaust in the center of split and moved out. Best I have seen is leaving the exhaust in the center, and a plate mounted to the trunk pan on both sides of the exhaust where the diffusers go, and a bar bent to pin in both square tubing and a piece of square tube in the center, with the bar bent upward some, so the hitch will be above the exhaust tips. |
Re: Trailer Hitch
And I commend you for trying to reach out for your customer.
More than most shops would do. |
Re: Trailer Hitch
Thanks for getting back to me Speedy

Us has a very low tow rating, but if you look online Europe has a tow rating for a crossfire over 3000 lbs. When you bolt in the hitches to the lower pan in the hatch, you could add in some lateral stiffener |
Re: Trailer Hitch
He is looking for something to tow less then 500 pounds and he was wanting it welded on the vehicle but the car is to nice to weld direct just want a bolt up for a simple tow.
|
Re: Trailer Hitch
There are a whole host of reasons that you won't find a kit anywhere, two are:
Very few cars were built, 77,000 in all - not much of a market there. The car was not designed for trailer towing - even less of a market there. Your only option is to build one yourself. Hard to make a living designing and building ONE of anything. Again, not much of a market........................... |
Re: Trailer Hitch
Very true Pizza Guy
just doing my due diligence before we commit to build one without approved tow measurable. Thanks for everyone being so helpful as this is not our expertise and i appreciate all the information. |
