Default Want to make a few bucks?

Nothing illegal.... this time.

Ok, the key to my XF is in pretty bad shape and I have been meaning to swap to a new shell for some time, but have way too much on my plate. Now, the primary key is starting to seperate and I need to do something sooner than later.

I am hoping to work out a deal with someone who has done the swap to an aftermarket shell with success. In return, I would buy them a shell, send some money, buy them a few drinks at an XF meet, whatever works best for everyone involved. I would like to do this sooner than later, so if anyone is game, please let me know.

Who knows, you could end up starting a small business doing this with aging keys and at least make some beer money

Thank you!

John... the time it took to fire up the computer and post you could have been halfway done with a swap.. LOL. If you get no takers - been there done that with mine so give me a shout.

"nothing illegal"... settling right into being a "married" man I see..

Thanks! After reading the write up, it sounded a little more complicated and trying to maintain/mod a house, 4 cars, 2 jobs, toys, trying to build a new house with a 6+ car garage, and plan a wedding less than a year away - I am spread too thin as it is. I can post at work, but can't fiddle with a key LOL

Which case did you use and does it look decent and stay together well?

Some advice here, when you find you have too much to do and too little time to do it in you have to write a list with the important things at the top.

I'll start it for you as I have lots of experience.

1, Four car garage.
2, ..............

Do you get the idea?

There is logic applied here, Molly would not like cars parked inside the house, and you actually can live in a garage.

Oh man we are not gonna see you or Molly at all this year

When it all comes together for you it will all be worth it though

This is the one I got..couple of touches with superglue on a toothpick to make sure it stays together.. works great and the recess is great for adding any custom logo and filling with clear nail polish. Just send me a PM if you want on this project.

Yeah, meeting with a builder tomorrow, then we either need to find a place to gut or find some land to build, it won't be this year, but hopefully sooner than later depending on what he says tomorrow.

I may be able to sneak in a fall dragon, but I don't want to get my hopes up in case it doesn't happen

I have too many parts to put on the car now just sitting in the basement/garage - lighted door sills, painted valve covers, new bumper, catch can, hood support reinforcements, and a few other touches, but no time to install

I believe I have one of these from a year or two ago when I purchased one and never got around to it

PM me your address and I will send out both the new fob and old one. Thank you!

I used a cheap eBay one myself and the swapping took maybe 10 minutes because I didn't care about destroying the old key case.. but the new case gradually started to come apart until I finally had to superglue the thing shut

I bought a cheep one from ebay/China and when opened the interior was nothing like the original case. the rf chip wouldn't even fit inside. The key wasn't even close to fitting. I tried extensive reworking and just couldn't get it to work. Glad you had better luck with yours.

The one I posted a link to were the ones everyone jumped on at like 5 bucks or something if I recall correctly .. then my alarm button took a dump and I was late getting the el cheapo deal.. but is the same supplier.. "hopefully" all are the same from them.. This one couldn't have been any easier to transfer to.
