Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
RED DOG,
.
You mentioned you had an additional 3rd brake light for a roadster.
If so, can you IM or email me at Jim.karam65@gmail.com on your price and condition.
Thanks Red Dog. Mine got destroyed by UPS sending it to Dave at Logan Diagnostics in Franklin, Tn for repair. 😒
Regards,

Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
Prior to sending it I spoke with Dave
He advised me to not use any kind of shipping tube as they often have damaged lights arrive in round tubes.
He instructed me to use a VERY HEAVY ply corrugated box about 6X6X36 to ensure that the LED light would not be damaged
I did exactly that and packed the light with plenty of padding around it and it arrived and was returned in perfect condition using the same box.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with yours as these lights are nearly impossible to replace now
Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
Valk,
Yeh, I was advised by Dave at Logan Diagnostics to package it real well and not ship it in a cardboard tube.
I actually bought the box at the UPS store.
Think UPS used the box 5” x 5” x 3’ as a bat. Clearly the box was stepped on. The light was broken clean in 3 places. I’ve started a claim with UPS.
Here’s pics on Tuesday still in the car and just before I shipped it that day.
As installed
Before it was boxed up.
Heres pics of the box and my light when received by Logan on Thursday:

Damn, that looks HORRIBLE! Please say you bought the extra insurance (I think UPS only insures basic liability for $100.00, anything else costs more)… EVERY shipping company lately has GARBAGE for responsible service and NON-EXISTENT actual customer service (they ferret you off to each other on the phone, there are no actual ppl who address higher lever CSU issues..). SAD!

Damn...I just saw this now
Were you able to find a replacement light since this happened ??

Graphite Ghost,
I did insure it for $200.00 thinking I should be able to replace easily. Boy was I wrong. After searching for 2-3 weeks I found an NOS one out in Connecticut. Wouldn’t you know the NOS light was factory defective. So I shipped that one to Logan Diagnostics (insuring it with Lloyds of London (LOL). Dave at Logan had to do surgery on the pins at the plug. He does great work!
Shes in car and operates as factory. Nuthin’ money can’t fix!
Dowhite57,
I do have one but it needs a tiny spring to make it work.

Glad you got one, you 'discretely(?)' left out the price? I bet it was AT LEAST twice the insured value... Glad your back in the 'red' (pun intended, ie red lamp and red negative valuation). The best part (pun intended) is that you got one (ie part, get it?)!

Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
I bought one for $125 from a guy in Maryland
When I got it it had a crack and a chip
I messaged him that I was disappointed that I hadn't known of this at the time of purchase
I think it happened when he removed it.
He asked me what he could do to rectify the situation and did offer to refund my money via PayPal if I returned it to him
I suggested he give me back $65 and I would keep it because the light does work fine
He agreed and in minutes he refunded me $65 to my PayPal account
These are very difficult to locate and I didn't want to return it since it is working
So I do have a spare for only the cost of $60
I did remove mine and sent it to Dave at Logan Diagnostics for repair and its back on my Roadster now working fine
Here is my working spare..I have since filled in the chip with clear epoxy

GraphiteGhost,
Looking back I kinda' feel lucky I found this NOS one. Seller did want $380. + shipping. Managed to get it for $300. shipped. In seller's defense, box was sealed when he bought it. I just insisted he open the box to verify it was intact. Didn't think to have him test it. Had it worked out of the box, I would have been $125.00 richer. That was my cost + shipping to Logan Diagnostics. Dave at Logan was great to work with. That's all they do.
Valk,
You did good. I'm finding its cheaper to buy the whole trunk lid , spoiler and light intact. Then sell off those parts to make you whole again.

I am still looking for an original emergency top tool . Let me know if you have one. Email morvette2@yahoo.com
Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
Sorry for the delayed response . . . I have it but I'm not ready to disable the car yet.
Look on Ebay . . . https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...odule&_sacat=0

Do you still have the car and are you ready to disable it yet? If so I need the coolant expansion tank.
Thanks, Pat
Thanks, Pat
Re: 2005 black SRT6 roadster / parting out . . .
Yes, I still have the parts car but I'm not yet ready to disable it. Sorry . . .
Still have the hood, the right front fender and both doors to sell. After that I intend to sell the remainder of the car (still movable / and actually still able to be driven) to someone who wants the complete drive train. That's the plan for it . . .
Mercedes SRT tank is #170 500 05 49, Chrysler #05135388AA.
Mercedes NA tank is #170 500 03 49,Chrysler #05101601AA.
Do a google search with that part number and you'll find new OEM tanks available from Mopar parts vendors. If you're looking for a replacement tank because the "nipple" has broken off, there is a "fix" for that on the forum . . . Look here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post808154

Shipped items have to be in sturdy boxes that can take a beating, the part must be wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap and tightly bound, The gaps between the bubble wrap and the box should be filled with styrofoam tightly packed so that when the box is shaken the item inside does not move. The thickness of the packing material depends on the strength of the shipped item.
I would ship a third stop light in a schedule 40 plastic plumbing pipe, with end caps securely taped on. The part packed securely with polystyrene at each end. The packing is going to weigh more in this case than the part but it will arrive undamaged.
Popcorn is pretty useless as unless it is jammed between the box and the wrapped item it will get shaken all over the place.
The handlers at the post office or whatever do not really care about your parcel, they arrive on a dump truck and are tipped onto the concrete floor like a load of bricks. They are not taken off individually.
Parcels with “Handle with care” labels are liable to be treated with less care, particularly in times of labour strife or if handled by a guy with a chip on his shoulder in which case your parcel could end up chipped.
The box shown in the previous post is a joke, rectangular boxes are weak, round and triangular boxes are stronger. Some shippers do not take round boxes as they roll around too much, if so put it in a square box.
Put the name and address of sender and receiver on the box and the wrapped item and if it is worth it insure or at least have tracking on the parcel.
It’s a jungle out there, only the well packed survive.
