John is the HPDE Director for HPDE in NASA. He drives a BMW M3... I don't remember the model number.
He's is an excellent driver with an EGO to match.

GEEZE !
I just looked at my Results / Times from Cal Speedway and I SUCKED on that track !!!
Friday 3/16/07 my best time was in the qualifying session in the morning which didn't count (2:11.74) Best time for the day was (2:13.76)
Saturday 3/17/07 best time was (2:13.43)
Sunday 3/18/07 best time was (2:07.82)
I was a good 10 seconds off the pace on Friday and Saturday and 5 seconds off the pace on Sunday ... That damned banked oval and concrete wall must have freaked me out more than I knew !!! Those times are PAINFUL !!! And those terrible times were definitely not the car, they were the driver !!!
Thank God we're running Buttonwillow & Willow Springs for the remainder of the season... At least I normally finish within 2 seconds on those tracks...

Yeah, turns 1 and 2 really had me letting off the gas WAY too soon... even with all season radials. As I hit turn 1 at 125 mph and let the speed bleed off to 110 mph... I could just level it out and cruise through there.
I guess I should have been slowly bringing the cruising speed up through the turns... and maybe even the entry speed could have been higher, but I couldn't get the fear out of my head of having the car begin to track up to that wall without my consent...
Maybe if I can get to Buttonwillow with you again I'll have some better runs. I've been there before and kind of know that track now... and there are no scary walls to intimidate me.
