As to reliability, Crossfire according to Consumer Reports rates much better than average. Sky & Solstice rate much worse than average if that's what your looking for. Why do you ask, do you have buyers remorse? That new Solstice coupe looks pretty cool.

Remorse? Not in this solar system. I was asking cause I had one blow by me like a U2 rocket on the expressway.

Did you mean you were racing him or he was just in the passing lane? I've had no problem with the standard version but haven't encountered the new gxwhatever on the expressway yet.

Both the Sky Redline & the Solstice GXP use the same inline turbocharged 4 cyl. & both run the same hp stock, 260.
A SRT should smack both, a straight-up XF will have issues.......

There's a Pontiac dealer in Indianapolis who'll put a 400 HP Corvette engine in a solstice or sky........Maybe that's what you were looking at

I think that if one had the tvt tune and injectors on their Limited it would give the redline a run for its money.

Here's the baddest Solstice you will ever have to worry about(for a while). Beware..........this level of power requires an absurdly large wallet. Top of the line engine choice is 750rwhp!!!

With just a tune, they pick up 100 hp over stock, are you kidding me? Why cant we pull that out of ours? Whats going on?

Hold it here.......you're telling me that a simple ECU tune wil give the car a 100hp increase?!
Not a chance....I'm not buying it for a heartbeat.

From some quick reading, that's exaggerated, but not by that much.

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...45/#post631922

Went from 219rwhp almost stock (+Magnaflow exhaust) to 235rwhp w/ a couple more mods (high flow cat, a spring???, and a wastegate mod to 280 rwhp with the current popular tune.

That's 45 rwhp, by the most conservative of estimates ( >50hp to the crank), and >55rwhp (~70hp crank) seems to be a better estimate of the tune's capabilities. Here's why:

- All the dyno runs appear to be Dyno Dynamics, which is fairly conservative, even more so than a Mustang dyno, supposedly.
- The wastegate mod allows them to get a little more boost out of their engine, but it is temporary. The ECU starts relearning the fuel programming to drop boost back down over time.
- The most conservative estimate is the power gain from 235rwhp to 280rwhp, but the wastegate mod was reversed once the tune was added. The tune bumps boost to 23psi max permanently, unlike the wastegate mod's temporary gain, and going over 23 psi appears to put the engine in limp mode.
- Since upping the boost (which is what the wastegate mod essentially did) was probably the main contributor to the power gain from 219 to 235, a starting point of 225rwhp seems to make a little more sense.
- 280rwhp is more power than most stock SRT-6's, IIRC (260rwhp on dyno dynamics, is that right?). And I've seen dynos of 280rwhp for SRT-6's after a couple mods. At that point, they've got the weight advantage (~300 lbs lighter), and they may have a better torque curve as well (hopefully not, but properly-sized turbos are usually known for their low-end grunt).

Know your enemy.

Whew...had me worried there for a moment. All I have to do is scare up about 75hp right. Right. Dont think I could close that gap with the Limited if I had roman candles up the tail pipes. I always get this urge when one of those goes by.... you know what I mean. LOL.

From a cosmetic point of view, the Sky looks a bit like a toy C6 Corvette.

I personally like the Pontiac Solstice's styling. Its curvy looks are much more interesting (to me) than those of the Sky.

The build quality is the worst part of these cars. I think that Saturn outsourced most of their plastics work to Duplo. The feel of the controls are beyond cheap, probably worse than what you'd find on a base level Ford F150. Everything is rather flimsy and noisy.

I hear they can be fast, though, if that's what's most important to you.

They have? I'm sure it's not as good as MB's, but it's gotta be better than GM.. Maybe GM has made some improvements in the last couple years.
