Default Dragtimes

Ok, something that bugs me a little. Is it just me? Why do people like Jeff Croy post all of their slips on Dragtimes instead of just updating their fastest time. Jeff has 4 posts that are in the top ten. 2 more that are in the 11 - 20 positions. I have not posted to Dragtimes yet, but plan to this year with my new mods, and when I get some DRs. It would be nice to see what place my car is in amongst other SRTs and not have to weed through all of the multiple posts to figure it out. I guess I could strap a bottle of nitrous on mine and make 20 passes and lock up the first 20 positions, but what would that prove other than the fact that I was being a royal *****?

Easy there, big fella. Dragtimes just doesn't work like that. You post your times. When you get a better one, you post it. It serves several purposes. Not only can you see your own progression, you can see what different mods have done for different people, which helps you plan for your own mods.

I agree, it would be nice to have an easily accessible up-to-date ranking of all the SRT-6s, but life's just not that easy. I used to keep track, but I haven't had the time to keep up lately. I used to be in the top 20 - but then a bunch of those "royal ******" dropped into the 11s and leapfrogged my ***. Oh well. I'll get 'em - and their little dogs too!

No Doc, I am not upset. It was mostly an observance, and like I said, it bugs me a little. I do not understand the logic of posting multiple times for the same car. Now, on the other hand.... If you posted a top time with your coupe, and then posted another top time with your roadster, I would be all for that. With enough money, I could have the top 100 fastest times with my one car, but what would that prove other than the fact that you would have to click through several pages to see who has the second fastest SRT.

Finally Doc.... Don't confuse my boredom with being upset. LOL

Alright Tom, I can buy that, and I was not looking at it that way. So, are you are saying that you would not post multiple times with the same mods? That you would only have your best time posted with each setup? If that is the case, I would understand that. It would be a reference point for the history of your mods, and the performance of those mods. But, if you are saying that it is ok to go to the track and make 10 passes, and then post all ten as separate entries, then I am not sure that I am still in agreement. Not that it matters wheter I agree or not.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm saying. I may have have posted more than one time of mine with the same mods. I'm not sure. What I do know is that I don't post it unless there is something significant about it for me. Usually I post every time I break my best time - of course I never post multiple runs from the same night. That's just silly unless you're comparing mods and swapping parts between runs.

Ok, I am with you then. And a little less bored than before. LOL

I am one of those type people that you have to draw a picture for sometimes for me to understand, but in the end whether right or wrong, I will hopefully learn a thing or two. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Whenever I have decent times, I just add to my list. You can click on my dragtimes in my signature to see what I mean. It's a nice place to keep a record of your times and not having to hold onto your slips. I intend to keep only 20 of my best times.

I feel the same way.............that's why I don't waste my time posting up on drag times. Maybe we shout start a thread on here(like there is on other "club" sites) titled "Fastest Members Drag Times" and any time you run faster you just submit the timeslip and it will be updated.........by a moderator.

That sounds like a great idea. A fastest times sticky.

bmorgan you have a couple of things going against you at this point. tune, pulley, and a roadster. Will be tough climbing the non spray list with those. I'd shoot for fastest roadster list, even categorize by pulley to make it fair for the c3. Jeff's slips were at so many different stages that each was the best at that time. It was a big deal at that time. Still a good bench for anyone to compare their slips to. Most were the fastest of anyone with those same mods.

I don't have anything going against me. I have the car I want, I have the tune I want, and I have the pulley that I want. I am not a die hard drag racer like many on here. If I was, I would get a coupe so that I would not have the roll bar restrictions under 13.49 that the roadsters have. I am content to go to the T&Ts on occasion to see what my baby can do. If that means that I can only get into the low 12s then I am fine with that. But, I do believe that I can get into the 11s with my roadster, with a Eurocharged tune, and with a C3 pulley. I will have to do some additional things to get there, but that is the fun of it.

I don't look at it as things going against me as much as I do challenges to overcome. Furthermore, I do not have aspirations to be the fastest. On the other hand, if I knew that I had the 10th or 16th, etc. fastest Crossfire on this forum, then that would be cool with me.

I do not see a need to categorize times by car type or setup. If we did that, what would be next? Would we need to categorize by DAs?

I think that if we implemented Moparburst's idea, it would generate a lot of positive conversations amongst forum members that do drag race. A sharing of ideas to help someone shave a tenth off here or there. Sure we would still have to deal with the ****** that are more interested in bashing others decisions than help them to improve, but that comes with the territory.

that was just in jest bmorgan.....I have been doing exactly what you have been doing...roadsters have the limitation to just test and tune for times, so I don't worry much about posting at dragtimes....I go see what's there from time to time...now with the coupe, it may be a yr or so, but at least we can race it without limitations. I will keep running them both though...with the mods we both have, unless we find a way to keep her cool, meth, cooling mods, whatever, I can't see 11's...it gets harder and harder once you get down in the low 12's..but it is fun to keep trying...my last mod for the vert will be some type of cooling, but then my attn will go to the coupe to try and gets it's times down...but, I don't think I will ever worry about posting my times over there, this is the only place I will prolly post times...

I agree Doc, that is why I like Moparbursts idea to have a sticky on here to post our fastest times to. So, for example, I post my best time and the 60' seems a little high for my mods. Members could give me advice to correct this. Lets say that Blkfin posts a new time that drops his last time by a 1/10. We could discuss with him what changes he made to achieve this. I realize that we already do this in a roundabout way. It would be nice to have 1 spot to go to to see what the best times of the active members are, and what mods they are running to achieve that time. Oh, and how we stack up against each other. I know that for me, the biggest obstacle to overcome will be the person behind the wheel. All the mods in the world will only help so much.

I do agree that this could also lead to some good natured ribbing about one mod over the other. It just seems like this year has started off with a lot of negativity in many threads. I was hoping the new year would bring in kinder gentler souls. Regardless, I will try to do my part to be a positive influence in this forum. Thanks for your thoughts.

I like that idea as well...and my new years resolution was to use the ignore feature, even though that isn't what I have done in the past, if it isn't positive, and it continues, the feature works...lol I will dig out my best time slip and post it along side my sig....I haven't anything to hide, and know I will never be the fastest, because I want to drive it to get togethers without worry about getting there and getting back...lol

You have a good point about not being the fastest, as that is not my goal either. The ones that invest the time, money, and testing will have the fastest times as they should. Where I think the fun is, is say I am 19th and 32Krazy is 20th. Then he has a good run and beats me out. I am not going to invest more money to beat him back, but...... I just might find the right day where the stars are aligned and I can launch just a little harder to beat him back. Yeaaa me!!! LOL At different levels we can have our own little banters going on. I can just see how this would make going to the track that much more fun. As personal friendships grow out of it, we wll find ourselves becoming more interested in other's trips to the track as well. I know that I have already made some unlikely friendships from this forum, and look forward to the other friendships that I have yet to make.
