here is the prototype we cut up, we used a different material on this for testing, it would work fine but i like the old material much better as it does not have the pattern or white flecks in it. i used a red piece of cardboard for the mock up and it looks pretty good in concept.

i have some indiglo paper here that i would like to place under the logo and then light up to shine thru. or even a small piece of acrylic and a LED to light it up, i have not finished deciding how to light this thing up yet, im open to ideas.

so far we are ending up at a total of 3.5 pounds for the 2 pieces

im open to ideas, we are limited by imagination!

Rob, It's looking great! Like the brand, and way cool idea w/ an uplight. I'm no lighting guy, but I look forward to your progress; whether you "light it up" or not. I think I like that texture, but would go with whatever thinner material that weighed less. Just my $.02 Bob

sorry rob not feeling it. i was just wanting a rubber tray to hold the battery sideways to allow more room. im ok with the logo but it needs the rubber bottom for the battery to sit on. also way too much weight. lets keep this really simple just a fitted rubber tray. the dual cai lets everyone know who is building the sweetest performance parts!

Rob,
I like the cutout with the NW logo in it... I wouldnt need the second piece under it as I already cut a piece of 1/4" plexiglas to fit into the battery tray...

I could even put some kind of LED under the plexiglas....

not under it Mike, IN IT ..drill a small hole in the (edge) and put one led light in it you will have light go through the plexiglass like a neon sign ,,the needswings would light up and so would your plexiglass ,to give your batt. a GLOW all around it. jim

Rob did say it was just his first prototype, and that he would be using different material. Hopefully thinner/lighter. What you are looking for 32 is like the one I did for myself (lower pic. in post #37) for sideway mount. Rob has the measurements for that style also, and hopefully he'll do that design as well. Two layers of 1/4" or 6mm may be adequate and a bit lighter. I got the Shuriken to make room for Meth tank and pump. So others that buy it for that reason will be interested in the rear sideway mount version. It won't be OEM fit this way, but not a difficult Mod. to do at all. (see post #24) Bob

i think you got it right on the first try bob. having the shuriken kills any oem look as does all the other mods i have. just looking for good functional tray for the battery

ok, got the backlit LED setup finished, we can do them in white, red or blue, probably more colors but those are the 3 colors of LED's i have here now

the color is more evenly spread than shown in the picture

has an on/off toggle switch and fuse and retains the factory battery height

we can custom cut whatever logo/words you want in there so long as they are not copywrighted

rob can you do just the tray with the battery in the back turned? no lights cutouts or such. just a tray for lightweight placement

Hey 32, if Rob doesn't do the rear/sideway mount version, I can make you one like mine if you'd like. Bob

sure, i can cut whatever ya want but you would need to come up with a bracket for the top to hold it in once you rotate the battery sideways and shift it back.

See posts #24, 29, & 37. It's not the circles and arrows tutorial like others have done, but is hopefully adequate to get it done. The top pic. in post #37 shows it completed.
