Shuriken Light Weight Battery Kit
Have any of you installed Needswings' Shuriken battery kit?
In my car, after tightening down the battery holder on top, the battery is still really loose. There's no way I could pass tech inspection with it that loose. In fact, I took it out because it's just too unsafe for driving around town. Has any one solved this or have any ideas how I could make it more secure?
If the photo's came through, you can see how much room there is all the way around the battery.

Mine was loose too, so I put a piece of wood (1/2" stained real dark making it harder to notice) between the rubber that comes with the battery and the rubber on the clamp that holds it in place. I'm considering how to make a holder with additional height for the bottom of the battery box. I'll get to it eventually even though I passed inspection. I'd feel better with it held in place at the bottom.

i actually thought the battery went in sideways when i bought mine. after trying it it was obviuos you had to install it the way you have it. so i added a few washers under the mount nut and it tightened it up fine. i also had to shave the space between the neg. terminal were the bolt tightens so it would tighten enough not to come loose.
i would like to see a way to mount the battery sideways at the positive end of the battery box to allow a meth container install in the same area.
i dont drive my car much and without a float charger the battery is dead within a week. with the float charger i have no problems but the drop in amp hrs from 72 to 20 is significant if you dont drive the car everyday
les how about a pice of 3/4" plywood the size of the bottom of the battery box with the center routered out 1/4" the size of the battery? that would allow it to sit in a cradle and painted black almost unnoticable

I don't have a router.
But those are along the lines I was thinking. I'll get to inventing before long. I don't have a trickle charger either .........

i can make a bottom "frame" out of the material but it would be cut all the way through, there is no way to scale back the waterjet's cutting depth and i dont see holding it in place for a cnc to be feasible.

if rob cut a peice of that rubber the size of the rubber of the hold down but maybe 1/2 or 3/4 thicj and you could glue it the the hold down rubber ,or just place it under ther hold down rubber beleave me it isn't going anywhere like this. jim

i like the rubber floor idea. sideways at the back of the battery box. i have a ton of things on the list for the weekend but will try to see what universal tie downs might be able to be modded to work.
as long as we are at rob i need a line lock that doesnt cost 450$!!!! the evosport is a complete kit but man, its pricey!

Interesting information. I still have the OEM battery in mine.
As far as the support material, I would suggest Delrin (Acetal). You can buy scrap pieces on ebay and they machine really well.
