I've signed up to run at Gingerman on July 26. Is is sponsored by the Shelby club, I doubt any Shelbys will be there. I am going with some friends driving C5 and Cobra.

Sounds awesome. I wish it was closer. I would like to do that some time. I had planned to go to my Brother's in Gainsville, Ga. Just outside the gates of Road Atlanta and run the car there. I think it's in Aug. or early Sep. that they have track days. for, I think about $300 you get 2 days. The first is training and on track time with an instructor and the second day you go solo. I've had some other things come up that's keeping me from going this year. But I plan to make it next year.

 

I love gingerman. I've run there many times. Take it easy on the back straight before the last turn. I've seen many cars hit the pit wall by over running there braking distance and not making that turn. Not to scare you, but you can really push the car as hard as you like in most of the other turns. The run-offs are great in the sense if you do go off track in any other turn, you just slide around in the grass until you come to a stop.

That is unless you make it far enough to burry the car in a sand pit 8) :lol: Yeah.. did that once :lol:

 

Anyone else coming? It's on a Monday...go ahead, take a day off...you deserve it.

 

I want to soooo bad.. but cant on mondays... cant miss even one day of class .... sucks ... and its not like i could come for part of the day... classes run funny... 9-12 then 6-10... ick!

 

Everything is set.
New pads installed and bedded.
Brembo rotors installed.
Was going to get R tires...but can't get them in time. OH well, that's for another time.

 

WOW, never knew the car can do what it did. Didn't know that I could do what I did. Gingerman is a long track (1.88 miles) and with 2 long straights. Couldn't keep up with the V8s in the straights, but could hang with them in the turns (as long as the driving skills (and experience) was comparable). Did manage to skid off the course twice. Did 180 twice and ended up facing into the traffic. Learned that I went into the corner too fast and gassed it too early...ROOKIE error ops: ...Got back on the track to prove that I knew what I was doing (for me). Like falling off the horse and getting back on. Need R tires. Will post pics when I get them. The photos don't do justice to the actual experience. WILL BE BACK...

 

Sounds like a great time. I can't wait to get mine on a big track. By the time I go to Atlanta I should have R compound tires.
