Default Drag on Saturday, Solo on Sunday

I never con get a decent pass on street tires with my car set up for Solo but decided to go anyway. I trapped 114.5 mph twice never passing 40% throttle position in first and pedaling in second. It makes me want to buy some rims and drag radials to see what my car can really do. I lost to a Porsche Spyder. Launch control is a beautiful thing. He trapped 106 and I trapped 114. Not good. It was cool for P.R., low 80's, humid and I got over 12 passes and home at midnight. Then got up at 6 to leave for the road course.

Had a really good day in the end. I was much more consistent in my lap times and set a personal best by .8 of a second. I made sense of my high IAT's too. I pumped out the water in my reservoir each heat but never surpassed 185º. I appears my intercooler leak allows the boost to pressurize the circuit. No wonder my IAT's are to the moon. Naturally, Rob already has an email from me.

Now the bad news, personal best and all. Lots of newly built cars showed up, most in my category, and I didn't place. 4th for me. I let 2 of them by and played follow the leader to see where I'm stronger and where I'm weaker. I can out brake them, out accelerate them, hang in the sweepers, get eaten alive in the slow tight portions of the track. 2000 lb Hondas with roll cages and better tires really turn. But the car performed extremely well in spite of the IAT/IC problems. They call my car the immortal. It shows up at the drag races, road courses and 1/2 mile events.

In a truly seperated SRT cooling system is there an advantage to having a pressure cap on the intrcooler/heat exchanger flow tank? THANKS

I got around to downloading the video from the camera. I only got one for your viewing and hearing pleasure. I took Hustler's advice and tried to brake earlier and for the most part succeeded in controlling my natural instincts.

I hope the link works now. I'm just about out of ideas on how to embed it.

Video looks good, do you have a wavetrac rear diff? I hear the inside letting go quite a bit, also a tcu mod would help alot. All that up shifting before the corner and downshifting exiting is why you have to saw the steering wheel so much. Being able to hold a gear through the corner is vital to the cars balance. All in all great job driving, the lines look nice and the car looks fairly settled.

Wavetrac √ No tcu mod. The car is predictable. It's possible to get the front to push, especially in the slow tight corners but a little trail braking works wonders. At higher speeds the front sticks better and the rear of the car is slightly loose. Not what I expected with that wing on the back. That's why I lift in the turn before the pedestrian bridge. The rear of the car is asking me how badly I want to drift. The car is a little loose on exit too. It's close enough that I don't feel the need to make drastic changes. I have adjustable rear sway bar links and that's where I'll be experimenting. In the last heat (no video) I had the 2 fastest cars in my class catch me on the warmup lap. I kept them behind me for 2 laps, decided I must be holding them up and pointed them bye. I was holding up one of them, the other guy had me in his mirror the rest of the heat. I learned a few things from following. Thanks for the complement on my driving.

If I had to guess the car being loose is partly due to the downshift of the transmission on the exit, that being said you seem to handle it quite well. It's amazing how much experimenting goes on just to pick up a tenth of a second lol.
