Re: Performance Differential Gearing
At J S Benz high performance shop for Mercedes,, i have access to a lot of parts and different years of Mercedes, along with Rudy we are working on it.
with a little modification we could put a sub frame from a Mercedes into our crossfire but then we have to change the hubs,, and calibers , but it would work ,, this could get us a factory posi at almost no cost. if we find the right one that bolts up into the crossfire bolt pattern I don't post much about this because it may not work . just on this subject i have received 6 pm's for info, when i get it to fit either the gear set or the sub frame i will post it. jim
And we all thank you for the work.
How about these 2 rearends, one is from XFire, can you guess what other is from?

Re: Performance Differential Gearing
yes on the charger the internal parts will not inter change and the charger housing nose mount it different. if I remember ,,,it was a year ago that i did the charger stuff,, you can put the Challenger rear in , but have to change the mounting bolt placement ,,hubs brakes and axles. i am trying to make so there is little to no extra work for the swap.
if you have found something that we missed please let me know we are all in the learn mode. jim

Like the one I posted pics earlier one is upside down, but the casing between the 06 3.5 (I think it is the 3.5 not the 2.7) compared to the XFIRE looks 100% identical cover, mounting and how shafts mounts, just different oil drain and fill holes. probably have different spline axles, trying to research. But the 06 charger has 4 or 5 different ratios including 3.90, 3.64 and a 2.82.
There are several different.
Take a quick look 06 charger 3.5l and tell me if that looks like the one u already looked at and ruled out.
Re: Performance Differential Gearing
can't br sure as that was last year.. but i can say we only looked at two housing from the chargers,, not even sure what year they were just know they were older year they could have been 06 if you have one check and see if it does fit into a crossfire maybe you found something great and maybe the wave trac will fit in it. let me know asap what you find out. thanks jim
Re: Performance Differential Gearing
What year Challengers? Couldn't you just use the Challenger or Charger diff and have some custom axles made with inners for the challenger or charger diff and outters to fit the crossfire?
If its just one mounting hole that seems easily fixable.

Re: Performance Differential Gearing
yes you could ,but what i am ytrying to do is find the parts that would interchange into a crossfire. then mary, or joe or whoever wanted a different ratio could just order the parts,, put it together and go down the road,, as far as having axles made that is not as simple as you think... years ago it was easy, today you have speed sensors built in and your abs os if i can find what firs wouldn't it be better than everyone for themselves to get what ever they can JIM

Re: Performance Differential Gearing
Thanks for the info! Our wavetrac isn't cutting it, we need a different option. Switching out the diff is our only option. Budget isn't a huge concern. I'll share anything we learn, but at least I have a good starting point.
