Why in the heck is it $3K to change the ring and pinion out?

Dude... That's what I'm saying!! If it was the one to 1.5k it should be I would have already done it! I couldn't find anybody else besides bergworks that even talked about it.

I've got an auto in my WS-6 so it has 3.23 gears. The 3.42's came in the stick.

I stand corrected, I forgot the auto's didn't have a 3.42 like my 6 spd. had.
Your TA runs pretty good, I bet you have alot of fun with the Stangs!

Question Re: 1/4 mile times, what have your run?

I'm thinking this has as much to do with "supply and demand" than high end factor. I bet you can get your gears changed out in an american muscle car for about $800.00 and that using something good like Richmond gears. So I ask, why is it so much and why did they go with such high gearing in the car, especially the 6 speeds that can run a lower gear like a 3.90 or 4.10?

You can get it done for $400. Gears are $175 and $225 labor.

How about the computer, does it need to be reprogrammed?

Tag, because i want gears.
Bergwerks went under...dead end there.
HDDP was looking into having someone make him some gears but Im not sure why it didn't work out.
I know some mazda guys put ford rears in the rx? cars.
I don't want to mess up the handling and weight balance of this awesome handling car, I just want gears!!!
WE did gears in my coworkers mustang 4.10's for under $400
Then we just reprogrammed his aftermarket computer and done!
I would pay $1,500 for gears and a computer flash, maybe more, I don't need to go 150 mph. Do you?

OnTheWingsOfCrossfire has a complete run down of a day at the track. He was running high 14's, with an automatic NON-SRT. With minimal mods, that is decent considering what it is. I personally will be very satisfied with a 14.999 lol. Considering i have an automatic and its bone stock. Ill have posts up very soon of my time slips. My buddy in his 06' Pontiac G6 GTP ran 15.1 bone stock, 6 speed. And he's at my door every time we fool around on the thruway. But as for a guy saying he's going to run 13's and its not an SRT, have fun. Mods barely help this car from what i've seen/read. Low 14's would be very nice.

And, if it ever stops raining on the weekends, I'll be back there with what I hope is a better launching technique to shave (hopefully) as much as .3's off of that 14.96s...

Well,

I personally don't have an SRT6... yet. I have had the opportunity to race a SRT6 Roadster at our local dragstrip. This was last year, and I was working at a Chrysler dealer at the time. They let me take the car out for our local Mopar drags. Best time I was able to get was 13.51 @ 105. This was my last run of the day, and I had actually gotten out of the gas right at the end of the track (Bracket racing). I was getting consistent 2.0 60' times from it as well on the stock tires. The car didn't even have 200 miles on it yet, and it was getting MUCH faster each run.

I have done ALOT of drag racing over the years (I have 3 Dakota RT's, the quickest runs 11.50's @ 118+) and was VERY pleased and surprised with the times I was able to get from the car. I am in the process of looking for a used Black SRT6 roadster right now to add to the stable.

Good site,

Danno

BlownSRT... i have been around this for many years and i have to agree that the 1/4 times you are hoping for are unrealistic... general rule of thumb for each tenth in the quarter you either have to gain ten horsepower or lose about a hundred lbs of weight... the quarter time you got of 14.5 is a great feat... but to run 13.5 you have to either gain 100 hp or lose 1,000 lbs or a combination of the two... the chip at best is a 10 - 20 hp investment, air intake a 10 hp investment at best if any, the exhaust will be lucky to see 5 hp in this under pushed 3.2... your friends Z is running 13.9 with 60 - 80 more hp (mattering on year) which sounds right on target for the difference between your times and his...

its not that we don't want to believe you... hell, i wish i could cause i am not satisfied with the power... but it really is not going to happen with those modifications...

WET nitrous kit [75 hp jet]... custom intake... custom free flowing exhaust... no chip (it advances timing, a no no with nitrous, don't risk it)... and i see you running those kinds of times... nitrous kit will cost you $500 - $600 bux. i have had great luck with NX brand...
