Okay my wife Brenda and I have registered at the Courtyard for Saturday. I have to drive up from Woodstock, Ontario (4 hours) Saturday morning early. Need to know at what time everyone wants to meet.
P.S. would have liked to be there Friday but Brenda has to work until midnight.

Well guys, after the amazing event in Carlisle this past weekend, I'm really looking forward to the Dream Cruise. Totally different type event I know, but it should be fun on it's own right.

I guess we should try and get some updates about:

1. Chrysler Museum visit
2. Dinner Plans for Friday (if XF folks local & visiting would like to hook up).
3. Sat Morn Rendez-vous for all XF's.
4. Sat evening plans.

I live about 7 miles from woodward. (Troy) I have been to every woodward cruise so far...don't see why I'd miss this one. So you can DEFINITELY COUNT ME IN!!!

We'll be glad to have a true local join us. RPM has taken the lead on putting this together and is doing a great job at it. He even did a dry run this last sunday. The one thing we haven't yet been very successful at is finding a place where we could park 20+ cars on saturday. Any suggestions? I can't speak for everyone, but I would be willing to contribute financially for a decent parking location for our cars.

 

Event Update:

KcKey12, CabinIsle1, and myself scoped out the hotel, and the 'strip' of Woodward on Sunday (my first trip to Motown).
It was a fun trip, wish some others could have made it. Saw many other Crossfires running around (SSB roadster, Yellow roadster, 3 Black roadsters).

Here's the deal with the Hotel:
There are 2 Courtyards on Opdyke Road. 1 is fairly close to Woodward Ave., the other is about 3 miles back.

The one furthest from Woodward Ave. is where the reservations are. It has been completely updated and seems pretty nice. It is beside the old 'Big Buck Brewery' and pretty close to the Chrysler Museum.

The hotel closest to Woodward is older and not 'updated.' It is beside a Marriot, Residence Inn, and a Papa Vinos restaurant (I think).

It does not appear that we are going to have 10 reservations (we only have 6 currently), therefore we will not get the Cruise and Stay package, however, I don't anticipate a huge problem with parking at this hotel.
I will leave it up to those staying if they want to try and change reservations and try a different place. I am on the fence as to whether or not I'm staying at a hotel since I'm a little less than 2 hours away.

The hotels have breakfast, etc. that is available to those staying there and those not. Thought we could all meet there and grab some grub (early am) and head down to a spot on Woodward.

Woodward Parking:
KcKey12, CabinIsle1, and I are still working on this. We are talking with a restaurant (with a bar) about using their parking lot if we agree to eat and drink there a bit. We should know something by the end of this week (keep your fingers crossed, it's a great place and a great spot to be - Bloomfield Hills right on Woodward Ave.). The place is ~ 8 miles from the hotel.
If we get it, we will have a place to set up Xfire banners (if you have them, please bring them if you can) that will hopefully attract other Xfires to our group.

If this place doesn't work out - we'll keep trying for something.

Meeting up, etc.:
Friday evening - I'll leave it up to those who are going to be there Friday evening to decide. There are all kinds of restaurants around. I'm not 100% positive I can be there Friday evening yet. I will definitely be there early Saturday morning though.

Saturday breakfast - If the reservations stay with the Courtyard on Opdyke Rd., we thought we would all just meet there for breakfast early am on Saturday.

Saturday lunch - TBD. If we get 'the spot' we could eat there for lunch or walk across the street or down the road as there are plenty of choices.

Saturday dinner - If we get 'the spot,' we thought we should eat there for dinner/drinks, etc.

Sunday morning - I'll leave this to the group who will still be there Sunday in the am.

Wow, great job on finding an excellent parking location. I'll keep my fingers crossed. If you get up to 9 reservations at the hotel, I'll make it 10 (friday night).

I'm arriving Friday PM, and will be there through Saturday night. Maybe I'll stay Saturday night and head home Sunday morning. It would be nice if we all stay at the same hotel, IMO. I like the idea of the dining and drinking at the place that, hopefully provides the parking. I'm bringing my Banner. I still don't know how many Illinoisans will caravan with me. Raulito, and crossfirehammer already bailed on me.

 

Just so everyone knows... the stretch between 12 to 13 mile is usually the epicenter of the activities. Chrysler/Dodge/jeep usually buys up the corner parking lot @ 13 mile and has about 40 to 50 cars there, past and concepts. Even trying to drive around is pretty much pointless... stop and go bumper to bumper traffic for miles. One more thing...The tickets for squealing tires or racing are RIDICULOUS! As soon as you get into Bloomfield Hills/north Birmingham area, the traffic thins out until pontiac. There's very little sidewalk there so the crowds are much smaller. This is the best place for getting a little "squirrelly" if you know what I mean.

For all the first timers...prepare to be blown away! Cars as far as the eyes can see...literally over a million people at the event!

The event is supposed to be a saturday event, but in reality, starting the tuesday before, things get pretty busy every night! So if you get here early, don't be afraid of being bored! I pretty much make it a nightly event for the whole week.

Oh ya...as of this morning...I paid $3.65 per gallon for gas...Michigan has a 19 cent per gallon tax!

 

It's now official...the dream cruise is just around the corner! I went out to the avenue tonight...about 300 to 500 cars out there! (DAMN...I love this stuff)! I'll be heading out to woodward every saturday night until the cruise, any fellow metro detroit x-fire drivers want to join me?

I just talked with member FP earlier tonight and booked my room at the Marriott for Friday and Saturday night. I will be joining FP from Crystal Lake,Ill. and driving my 2004 Crossfire coupe up to Auburn Hills. We should be arriving late afternoon at the Marriott. we will be driving 325 miles leaving around noon.

We look forward to meeting all the rest of you Crossfire owners and it should be a exciting time for all. I just hope with a group this large we can all coordinate are time and meet each other. We have found a couple of different places with a couple of different prices.
