Heading out to woodward tonight, so I will be on the look out for that parking spot. Since I don't know which one it is I will just look at them all and let you know overall if the lots are good. Anyways jonathan come on out, and I hope to see you at the cruise.

Still no response.
I did email the Woodward Dream Cruise Organization to ask them where we would best find barking for ~ 25 Crossfires - no email from them yet either.

We'll keep looking though.

RPM, do you have any type of schedule of events, we (wife Louise) can make it one day, to partake in the festivities, so next time you update the attendance please put Louise and Terry with '05 classic yellow roadster there for the ride. PS - To all the forum members in the Detroit area did you happen to see the score of the Pistons game last night. Those Red Wings are not doing so bad either and don't forget the Tigers. Detroit may not build as many cars, but they do have some sport teams. SORRY FP but I had to rub it in!!! You do have the bears we'll give you that. LOL.

They did not play last night. They play today, and I'm not hearing a fat lady sing yet. BTW, We also have the White Sox.

RPM:
Put me and my wife (Elaine) down for sure.
It was her birthday present last Friday and she is more than willing to show it off.
PM'd Terry, he lives close by so the 2 Classic Yellows will show up together, looking like twins, or 1 too many colds from the night before.!!!

Elaine and I don't need a hotel as we are just across the river in Windsor.
See everyone there.

Question Re: Woodward Dream Cruise - August 18th, 2007 - Motown

OK Motown locals - need your help here.
Not sure what we are going to do about parking for the event. I've never been 'in' Detroit before (been to Livonia x2) nor have I been to a Woodward Cruise.

I've posted our parking needs on the Woodward Dream Cruise 'Shop Talk' forum to no avail. I've also emailed the Woodward staff - no luck there either. The guy on Craigslist never emailed back either.

Do people just park on the street or do they rent lots, etc.?

Any help organizing the happenings in Motown are MUCH appreciated.

Thanks.

RPM, I bet we are going to have to deal with group parking soon as you have noted. There are more than a few locals (to that area) on this forum, hoping one of them can help out with how this is done.

RPM, speaking as a veteran of about 10 Woodward Ave. cruises, all I can say is parking is pretty much where ever you can find it.
Since it is actually a "Cruise" and not just a car show per say, Cruising is what it's really about. But there is so much to see, that you will want to stop every now and then just to check things out.
The Big Three, do have huge displays set up at various spots along Woodward Ave., and there are numerous car shows in parking lots along the route.
One of the best shows is around 15 Mile Rd, where they close off all the city streets and there are 100's if not 1000's of parked cars to see. There is also a in-closed parking lot right there too, so it may be one place we could all plan on hooking up as a group to go walking around together.
It's my understanding that we are all going to get together at the Courtyard Inn across from the Chrysler museum, correct?
Has anybody looked into touring the museum on Friday? Because Saturday you will want to be on Woodward Ave. no later than noon, because it will turn into "grid lock" soon after. I know the term "grid lock" doesn't sound like much fun, but when you're surrounded by really cool cars everywhere you look, it's not as bad as ya might think.
The odd's of us all being able to stick together (as a group) once we get on the Ave. are very slim. But it would look cool if we tried to have as many Crossfires together for as long as possible.
Usually we cruise a little bit, pull down a side street and find a place to park at the curb. Then we get out and walk a little and have a look see, then go back, get the car, and cruise a little more. Then repeat the whole process through out the day.
The event seems to get bigger every year, and more than a million people show up, with 1,000's and 1,000's of cars. It's an automotive spectacle that every car enthusiast should experience at least once. And most everyone that does, comes back for more.
It's the one "car thing" that I make sure I do every summer.

Thanks for the input there...and i agree that its going to be virtually impossible to stick together throughout the day. However, a museum tour, and a planned XF Group Roll on Saturday sounds great.

Just need a time/place to meet up and then we can roll.
