Hi Greg, I see you edited your post. I remember reading about paper element filters vs. the MANN brand fleece filters so I just researched that subject again (did a google search for paper vs fleece). I can't tell from the photos in the link you posted but generally the "aftermarket" look-a-like filters have a paper filter element. Several members have experienced a failure with those paper element filters. The consistent recommendation here in the forum archives has been to stick with the known MANN brand fleece filter . . . specifically the HU718/5X . . .

Getting excited about CAA#6 in June!

Yeah I did a search for the HU number and found those. The pic looks like the fleece and posted that up.. then went and read the details and added the "disclaimer".. LOL. I'd much rather spend a couple bucks extra and keep a fleece filter in them!

We're working on scenic and restaurant stops for the routes we've found now.. so should be posting that up fairly soon! May have to divide into A-B (east bound - west bound) route groups if the car count keeps climbing.. then everyone can say "we passed 10 Crossfires".. LOL. Colorado trip pretty much defined keeping 15-20 cars grouped up was a chore. Not to mention restaurant overload - freak out.. LOL.

Normally you can rely on the color to determine the filter material, a yellowish color means it's paper and a gleaming white is fleece/fiber glass.
If they use the HU718/5X number and that picture you can take it as fiber glass, or there would be lots of returns or unhappy customers. Many after market parts are exactly the same part as the name brand parts without the makers name and part number on them, sold by the maker or others without the expense of advertising and the overhead of the large company. Typical such products we all know are the house brands of the grocery chains.
Mind you I would want the name brand part myself.

You're welcome . . . My package arrived yesterday but unfortunately they only shipped me ONE filter instead of the FIVE that I ordered and paid for . . . I sent them an e-mail and they answered immediately / apologized / said they would ship out the other four filters right away. Looks like good customer service from this seller. They are still offering these filters at a good price . . .

I ordered 2 filters and they only sent 1. I got the same apology and said they had a mix up in shipping department, and would send out the other with a tracking number. Haven't received it yet. Red Dog, did you receive the 4 they owed you?

Found these on Amazon as a package. Are they the correct filters for 2005 Crossfire?

Mann Filter (CUK 29 005) Carbon Activated Cabin Air Filter $18.75 (Amazon indicates it will not fit?)

Mann Filter C 3698/3-2 Air Filter Element, (Set of 2) Mann Filter C 3698/3-2 Air Filter Element, (Set of 2)
$21.08 (Amazon indicates it will not fit?)

Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter
$11.40 (Amazon indicates it will fit)

Getting the proper filters is a bit confusing. Any assistance is appreciated as well as other products.

Mann Filter (CUK 29 005) Carbon Activated Cabin Air Filter $18.75 (Amazon indicates it will not fit?) There is no way in hell that is the right filter, ours are not shaped like that.

Mann Filter C 3698/3-2 Air Filter Element, (Set of 2) Mann Filter C 3698/3-2 Air Filter Element, (Set of 2)
$21.08 (Amazon indicates it will not fit?) Looks right, but I'm too lazy to yank the filters out of my car to measure them and I don't know the Mann number for our filters.

Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter
$11.40 (Amazon indicates it will fit) Looks right to me. But I buy my oil filters locally. I only do one change a year, maybe two. $14 for a filter locally makes sense to me.

Either of these can be bought locally for $11 to $16 each, they are re-boxed Mann Fleece Filters - but if you tell the guy at the counter you want a Crossfire filter, he will sell you a paper one. Just go buy them using the numbers below and you are good. If you get the Purolator L25276, it will be the crappy paper element.

How many fleece filters can you make from the average sheep?
