Central Texas Crossfires(CTC) Downsizing
Effective 6/14/09, the Central Texas Crossfires (CTC) roster will be downsized.
Active members voted to remove from the CTC roster inactive members who've missed five or more GTGs in a row. Continually missing GTGs or not responding to CTC posts shows a lack of interest in the club.
The red CTC will be removed from those member's names on the Official Texas Member list thread.
Members wishing to remain in the Central Texas Crossfires may do so by participating in club GTGs.

We all have priorities in life (can you believe there are more important things than our beloved crossfires?), but at least responding to CTC posts once a while would help for sure. You got my support Bill

I'm sorry to see you guys do this. I think I can speak for the DFWXfires when I say we are probably less organized (for worse or better). We are just happy to have folks show up at the GTG's whether it's just once or frequent. Of course the GTG's are more fun when more show up. I know I have developed some valued friendships that are a result of meeting at the the GTG.
Why some don't show up or respond on the forum varies. Some have to work, have family obligations or are less enthusiastic. As far as posting goes, I bet the ones that don't post in GTG thread reflect their lack of activity in the forum. Good for them. They somehow avoided this serious addiction the rest of us have for the forum.
IMHO, deleting their CTC memberships pretty much ensures they'll never return. Just my thought.

I can see both sides of this. We have decent turnouts, and I enjoy every bit of them. Life has gotten in the way of me making the last two GTG's, but I did inform of my situation. I think that is the main area of concern, these members are logging on, viewing the thread, and just ignoring it altogether. If you are too busy to even log on, believe me I understand Civil Engineering can be hectic, but if you log on and choose not to respond then what? It's a tough choice. I want as many people to show as we can get, better data pool.
It is always a balance act. Too many GTG to close togeher and people lose interest.
Not enough GTG or too far apart and they lose interest.
good luck keeping it all together guys. 'Cause it is worth it.

It was just a matter of time before this would come to a head. Bill was the catalyst forming this group and has prodded, cajoled and close to begged the members to respond.
I joined a little more than a year ago and have tried to be active in the planning and attending of the GTGs and of course my being retired is a different circumstance than others. Not making each and every GTG is understandable, but the frustrating part is when only a couple of people are doing the leg work and planning and and others are not even responding to the notices.
I hope this serves as a wakeup call and reinvigorates the members to at least repond to the notices. Paul W has been doing most of the leg work scouting eating places and it's difficult when you don't know whether to look for 10 or 20 seating, or parking for 5 or 10 or 15 cars.
All Bill is saying is you joined, you're welcome, we enjoy your company, but if you don't want to participate let us know. Life goes on and so will CTC. A little consideration for the others, please.

We do have members from Dallas and Brenham also. They are members as they have attended several of our GTGs. Everyone with a Crossfire is welcome to attend CTC GTGs which we hold once a month. There is no guessing that we have a GTG as it is on the 2nd Sunday of each month unless someting changes.

Our next GTG is on 14 June, barring Mother Nature. The scenario for this meet is as follows:
Re: Ctc June 14 Gtg - Today , 06:58 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meet at San Marcos. take 12 (Devil's Backbone to 32.
32 to 281 and go to Blanco. Eat.
Go back down 281 to 473 (Kendalia).
473 to Comfort to Center Point. 480.
480 to Camp Verde, break if store is open.
Camp Verde south on 173 to 2828.
2828 to Medina.
Return through Bandera, Pipe Creek on 16 to 46.
46 to Boerne and bust up.
That's exactly what I had in mind JP...... I can get you there......just don't know all the road numbers !!!
I don't think runnin the Sisters would be such a great idea due to the time constraints involved.
Is everyone good with BBQ ? There's a lil place in Blanco (Riley's I think) and the food is not half bad !
Times for join ups will be posted on the South Forum CTC. Contact BillF with any questions. Check you Navaid for distances.. May be too long for you. Contact eeric if you two can trail each other down.
