I'll post some directions to where we're going for each of you as we get a bit closer to the 19th. I'm excited about the GTG. I think Dan's idea of having a quarterly GTG around the state in different area's would be a great idea.
I'll check out the area as soon as I can venture that way and see what I can find for a couple of places to eat.

Sharon, hopefully you'll be able to get your tranny problem fixed by then. Keep after them and don't give up.

I'd like to think that we could even rally up a number of Miamians for a GTG in Palm Beach County.
I would definitely be willing to head as far north as WPB or near that area..and im SURE we can convince other fellow Miami-ans to join the 1 1/2 hour drive north! Moroso is always having shows and i have always seen some of my Miami friends driving up that way...i don't think it should be a problem...in regards to the time travel/distance and ga$!!!

...IMO!

Hey guys, can we start a new thread for S FL or WPB GTG? We are jamming that and the Central FL GTG into one here and it's getting harder to follow without going back and figuring which response is to whom. I would like to gtg with you guys as well at some point, but it sure would be easier to separate them. Just a suggestion.

danimal,

Good idea. Another thread for a south Florida GTG would eliminate a lot of confusion.

John,

My wife and I are still in for the central Florida GTG.

This is our forum since we are Central... LOL

And yes, I hope all is well with my car by the time that date comes along... but even if its not, so long as the sporadic moment does not happen when I am going to join everyone, then I will be there... I mean, you need my yellow car to compensate for all the blue, black and red ones, right? LOL

Looking forward to it...

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to touch base with you and see what type of dinning preference everyone would like to enjoy. I'll take a drive up there this weekend and check out to see what is around.

I've been doing the clay bar and polish thing to my SRT on and off for the past week. I haven't driven it for over a week now. I want to get another coat of carnauba on before I take it back out into the sun. I was so amazed at the difference the clay bar made to the smoothness of the finish. Unreal!!!

If anyone would like driving instructions/directions, just PM me your zip code and I'll get them for you.

I'm looking forward to meeting up on the 19th. I'm surprised that no one else has shown any interest in going. I know we have alot more Central FLA Crossfire owners that are active on these boards because I checked through all the members that are listed from FLA or close to me and sent them all an email to invite them and not a one replied to me to say either yes or no. I only sent them to current active users too.

Later,
John

I'm still in! Can't wait to meet everyone. As for a dining preference...food always works best for me.lol Just kidding I'm open for anything.

A nice steak restaurant (5*) with a wide selection menu would be my choice.

I will be there!!!

And regarding food - as long as its not a fish restaurant, I'm fine. I'm allergic and as much as many of you would love to drive my car, that's not the way to do it! LOL

Looking forward to it and meeting my "other family"!!!

I'm still in. I have directions to the speedway, but I understand there isn't much around there, so I'm assuming dining will be closer to Orlando?!?!?! Anything goes for me as far as the cuisine.

Ok this is what I've come up with so far.

I was looking for someplace that we could all meet that would be close to I-4 and the Turnpike since everyone but Kevin will be coming from those two directions. Sorry Kevin. I found a Carrabba's on the western side of Orlando that we could meet at for dinner. From there it's about a 30-40 minute drive to the speedway. Most of the trip will be on the toll road going across Orlando, so that might be fun to play tag with each other for 12-13 miles. I thought that Carrabba's would be a good choice since everyone should be able to fine something that they would like.

I'm going to take a drive there this weekend, since I've never been to this one and see what the access to I-4 and the Turnpike will be and then what the drive to the speedway would be like. I usually never take any toll roads around Orlando except the Turnpike. The have there first sitting for dinner at 4 pm so I thought if we meet just before then to meet everyone, sat for 4, or close, we would be done about 5:30. We would be at the speedway by 6:30, or so. Everyone might want to fill up before we head to the track so that afterwards you'll be all set to head out. The gate at the track opens at 7 pm so we should all have plenty of time to visit without being rushed.

I'll look for another option to see if I can come up with something better, but I thought if we all met at the nearest point to everyone getting to Orlando, it would be better than each of you trying to find your way around a strange town. It should be pretty cool to have 6 Crossfires driving in a line going across town together too!!!

Thumbs up Re: Central Fl Aug GTG

John,
Thanks so much for taking the time to go check the area out - its very much appreciated!!

And the time you're proposing works just fine for me - am anxiously awaiting directions so that I can prepare myself to do some racing! Wow - for the first time I will actually be able to speed and test my car without being concerned about being pulled over by a cop? What a wonderful thing!

Question - does this mean we should have an extra set of tires ready to replace the set we burn up on the circuit? LOL

Sharon,
I don't think they will allow us on the track. We are only going to be watching them race. I do know that in the past they have allowed private owners to take there street cars on the track, but I don't know if that will be allowed when we go. I'll place a call and see. I'll take a few laps around that short oval. I know they do have a drag strip there also, but I'm not sure they use in on Saturdays. i have some kids that work next to me that go during to week and run there cars. Hey, it will only take a call or so to find out.

Unless of course you were referring to the toll road across Orlando. If mister officer would be nice enough to stay at the donut shop during that time frame, well I think we could do that 12-13 miles is what, 4.5 or 5 minutes. Just kidding!!!

I'll be back,
John

Ok, this is so so cool!! I called and talked to the guy that does the promo for the races there and he said that if we are there by 6:30 we could do the parade lap before the start of the race at 7 pm. He also said that if we could get a few more cars together for another night, to plan it, he would let us get on the track together and then do like a car show after. VERY COOL IMO!!! The drag strip will be open Sat night, but he didn't have any details about times or stuff. Everyone game to do the parade lap before the race???

We'll have to be sure that we are out of dinner by 5:30 so that we will have enough time to get across town.

We could do the drag strip if anyone is interested, just need a helmet. I'm game, anyone else?

Guess I'll have to go borrow a helmet from someone - or is there a specific type we have to have?

Oh man, this completely exceeds my expectations!! I am SOOO excited!

Is it the 19th yet???

Yes there is a certain type of helmet. I'll find out and post.

I'm very excited about the whole event too. It is the 19th that we will meet!

These next two weeks will not go by quick enough for me, although I do have a bunch of stuff to get done.

I certainly want to make sure that my Crossfire is very cleaned and shiny before we meet.

John

Want to wash & wax mine, too? LOL

Hopefully there's a car wash close to the speedway so that I can run her through... I mean, traveling 80+ MPH up I4 will make the front end of my car really nasty looking...

Is it the 19th yet??

I have a friend that is a professional racer and he is actually going to ship me his extra helmet that is circuit approved for high speeds, so I'm covered.

I am sooo in!!!

Okay.....so which are we doing......the dragstrip or the speedway????? IMHO it would not speak too well of us to go do the parade lap and then leave to go to the dragstrip. Either is fine with me but the speedway seems to be MORE THAN ACCOMMODATING to offer all that they have to us. Just something to think about.
