I'm leaving from Savannah I-95 Area Friday AM heading up to Macon to meet Pizzaguy via the route atttached!

Deb, what time are you planning to head out on Friday?

 

That is JUST the route I was going to suggest, Deb.

I'll join the parade as you pass exit 205 on I-75 20 miles north of Macon!

It' won't be THAT bad of a ride for those of us from GA - a 7 hour drive for Deb and a 4 1/2 hour drive for me. That makes it 5 hours from Macon, GA.

Stargazer: We'll have to wait to hear from Deb, but you MIGHT consider staying the night in Macon thursday evening - or else I'm afraid it'll be a long day for you.

(Driving for me is no longer fun after about 9 hours.)

(Actually, I could put you up for the night at my home in Griffin.)

EDIT: If Deb leaves at 8:30, she'll be here at noon - and we'll be at the Lodge by 5pm (or 6 pm with a one hour lunch break) - not bad. SO, Stargazer, you'd have to leave at 5:30 am! (Assuming Google maps is accurate here).

 

Interesting.....let me check and see my states caravan plans....may join you guys in Atlanta..wanna stop by Commerce anyways to get a few things.

 

I will put together a time line along with intended stops today and post it. Pizzaguy send me the suggested place to meet up with you for the Macon area!

There is a rest stop on I-475 on the west side of Macon I think would work best.

All the restaurants in Macon are BEFORE this rest stop, so....
Lunch could be 18 miles north of there in Forsyth at Shoney's or DQ or Wendy's or....


I called the GSP and there is no other rest stop until you get north of Atlanta - way past where we exit for I-575.

I guess we COULD meet at a restaurant along I-475 but I'd have to do more research to find what's there. Several places have closed in the past few years!

 

Well, the wife and I were going to take a less than direct route from Florida because I wanted to spend a little time with her in Savannah. We will be staying in Savannah overnite and ready to leave whenever Deb is ready.

Olga and I love road trips! We are always looking for an excuse.

 

Stargazer as of right now my plans are to leave Savannah around 8:30 AM on Friday morning, getting to Macon around 11:30 or so. meet up with Pizzaguy and then perhaps have lunch before heading on.. as time gets closer and we will nail down our plans.

Hey, I wish I was going with you guys. I am still trying to figure out a way to make it work. Anyway, I live in Warner Robins just about 20 minutes south of Macon. There is a good variety of food types available right off of 475... New China Buffet (very large variety, and good food), Cracker Barrel, Sonny's BBQ, Ryan's Buffet, Buffalo's Cafe, Margaritas Mexican Grill, and others. Most of the restaurants will be located off of either Eisenhower Parkway or Zebulon Road. I would be happy to assist you with lunch reservations or anything else that I can do to help out.
