Covertible top won't go down
Re: 2005 Limited Auto convertible, 43500 miles.
What are the most common reasons for the convertible top to stop working? It was working fine until a couple days ago.
(I saw the excellent video on how to lower and raise the top manually.)
Thanks for any help.

1. the divider switch in the trunk.
2. the top released switch just above the passenger's ear.
3. the trunk latched switch in the trunk latch assembly.
4. a blown fuse.
5. no fluid in the pump. ( check for leaks at all cylinders )
6. a bad pump.
7. a bad top up/down switch.
8. if the windows don't go down when the top lock is released ( with the ignition on ), then there is a bad switch in the windshield header at the right side latch position.
( what part of Georgia ? )

I mention Pizzaguy (video boy)..^^^ but this guy knows a little about them too.. LOL.
Oh.. that divider switch everyone loves to mention.. Those "rods" on the left and right side of the divider panel are what actuate the switch when they "hook" into position.

( And I agree that Mark is the expert, I'm just a brown belt in flop-top. )
Well thanks for the further clarification.. but you did note "switch" as in singular correct? I mentioned this since when we got our roadster the divider panel was actually laid back and I had no clue from threads just where the switch was or how the panel was supposed to lay in. PO has bypassed the switch one way or another.

You gonna fix the switch ? Might save you some embarrassment .....
It's at the very end of list of things to do..LOL.
Almost was a FUBAR with it working and panel sitting anywhere.. put the hurt on a card board box.. that was my clue "this ain't right".. LOL.
Panel stays in "raised" position at this point..and was noted to wife "leave it right there"..
