Default Well I dood it.

This time tomorrow a new resident should be here, an '07 Limited Coupe in exactly what I said I didn't want: Black but with Cedar interior (black/red can be sharp). Bit over 100k miles but very well maintained and a central Florida car all its life.

So have the Clarion M303 on order since need handsfree and aux input and am wondering if a 10" tablet on the glove box door would be touchable. Ergonomics should be interesting since CF is very close to Fiero size (actually 6" shorter)

Also coming is a Mini BT OBD-II dongle to avoid hitting with clutch foot.

Anyone know if a 2.6 ring & pinion from an E320 will fit the Crossfire pumpkin ? I really want a sub-2000 rpm 70 mph cruise and do not need a granny 1st. 2500 @ 70 does not make for good MPG (that is what a four speed Fiero GT turns and him don't either). That many with a 3.2 V6 & 6 speed is just abby-surd.

(Actually what is absurd is that my Grand Cherokee with Pentastar gets the same MPG with higher compression on regular)..

I have often thought we have the perfect transmission - if you plan to pull stumps in 1st gear.

Or if the engine had 60 less horsepower. I know a few here who don't even use first. I use it as a clutch-saver.

I use first gear as little as possible, since it tends to "pop" itself out of gear whenever I am not paying attention. It is the most jarring and unnerving thing. I can't believe their is no adjustment for it.
I found when I had the manual tranny that it only jumped out when I had not snicked it into position far enough.
There was a problem with the early ones and it was a fixable problem, so look for the fix if that is the problem.

If it is a 2005 there was a TSB on this issue 21-005-05 for trans s/n 1 692 154 - 1 788 079 "may experience disengagement from first gear".

Must admit part of the attraction was all of the online documentation.

The issue applied to N.American 2004's mainly, the TSB may have come out in 2005
The easy fix is buy an auto or SRT.

I think this is just a misadjusted shifter. If I engage it properly, its fine. Half the time I don't even use first gear.

Once you have the tranny out it is not so bad unless you have a plethora of needle bearings to keep track of.

I once rebuilt a lunched trans for an A/SR (SCCA) on the back of a trailer during the break and since the synchros were all mangled just made it a crash box. Won the afternoon race but I put 90% STP plus 10% ATF in it and the lube acted to match the gears. Did have to double clutch down.

Only caveat is that if it is a Moss gearbox (XK Jags) best have a set of Whitworth wrenches.

BTW three of the vehicles in the .sig have manual boxes.
