Engine stalls when getting to a stop
Good evening Crossfire owners:
I just bought an automatic '05 Crossfire Roadster and I have experienced multiple times now that, when getting to a stop, the engine will stall.
It even died three times already.
It is not repetitive and difficult to reproduce. No errors or engine check light show up and the dealer cannot reproduce either.
Is anybody experiencing this same issue? Where you able to solve it?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Engine stalls when getting to a stop
A number of members have mentioned a bit of a near stall while at traffic lights. But not usually a full stall.
It happened to me on two separate occasions within the first month after I bought my new Crossfire two tears ago. The engine sputtered for a few seconds and then was fine.
It never happened again.

Mine stalled recently but I had experienced random starting issues for the past month or two. Your issue could be the start of the similar problem I and a few others have had. Check the following thread:

Re: Engine stalls when getting to a stop
Could be the throttle body is full of crap... Take it off, clean it out put it back on.
Go to a local autozone and get fuel injector cleaner. You put it in your gas tank, then drive around for awhile. Make sure you floor it often (shouldn't be a problem eh?) oh clean things out...
It could also be a vacuum leak. Does it idle harshly? Low or bobbing?

Re: Engine stalls when getting to a stop
The one problem that is very common with these engines is the crank position sensor going bad. The early symptoms of one going bad is stalling when you come to a stop light. The engine will quit just as you come to a complete stop. the next symptom is the engine will not immediately re-start, may restart after 5 15 minutes. This is new problem for Crossfires since out cars are now getting old enough to see this happen. My old car was a 2001 ML320. Since these engines have been around since 1998 the MB guys are very familiar with this problem.
The sensor is very easy to replace yourself but dealers will want a lot more.
