Stainless Roll Bars (Sport Bars)
In the roadster it may be just a case of enlarging the holes, but byes for the coupe you have to drill the plastic bulkhead cover. I removed this cover, then temporally fitted the bars in place, and then offered up the plastic cover to mark the centre line is from where the bars touched, with a felt pen marking the line front to back. Then I knew that the hole centres would be somewhere along that line. Then just used a bit cardboard to make a rough shape of the plastic cover and laid it in position on the bulkhead against the side off the bar and again marked the centre line. Then laying the cardboard on the plastic cover allowed me to pinpoint the hole centres. The rest was good luck!
I have not sorry to say...I started on them one Sunday, and since I wasn't sure of my bars bolt pattern matching up with the stock ones, I just gave up. Now, I realize, I would have been fine. So, next vacation, in go the bars, and out come the stock ones, and the stock ones are going into the coupe for a new look as well. Nothing wasted... You have make sure the bars have the tabs welded correctly to match the ones coming out. There are several out there, that don't match up, so you have to cut the tabs off and re-weld them in the correct location.....
Great that you have the instructions in a PDF. I had just made a few extra copies of his Template and was offering them up to anyone in need. Now it seems that anyone that wants to shim the bars w/ washers to get them more vertical will have to slightly adjust from this Template(fore and aft center line only), depending how far back they can actually be shimmed. When I do this install this Winter, I'll want to shim them as far back to vertical as possible, so I'll adjust the Template then. And an F.Y.I., I recently purchased the AutoGrimmig(stainless steel) bars for a "make offer" price of $144.50 on E-Bay. Happy Holidays.

Guys,
I've been following this thread so I can install factory roadster bars, but my car has some sheet metal where the bars should go that prevents me from sliding the bars all the way in. The lower bolt holes are below this sheet metal shelf.
Has anyone else run into this on an SRT 6???
Please help!
Scott

Just didn't see a metal shelf......
Scott, I installed bars 3 months ago but I didn't have the problem of "metal where the bars should go". Are you installing OE roadster bars or aftermarket? They should insert from the front (seat side) w/o any modification. The tricky part was inserting through the loose bulk head while guiding into the frame mount.

Thanks....
I did get a set of 4 tapered Toilet seals but the China rubber flexative fumes were overwhelming.
I had hoped to get a PDF copy of the template (post #106) but ended up building one since I did use the upper spacers (more vertical). Ended up with about an 1/8” clearance all around.
The AMG Carbon fiber belt pads came from Amazon>>>

Thanks for the feedback,
My SRT has a sheet metal shelf inside the bulkhead. My bars are factory style with molded black look. They bolt in two spots on each side of the bar and I see the holes that should be used to bolt them into the car, but the lower bolt holes are below a metal shelf inside the bulkhead that prevents me from being able to place the bars all the way into the bulkhead.
I can't believe my car is the only one built this way.
In order to get the bars in the right position, I would have to somehow remove or cut the shelf.
Bummer! Looks like I may have a set of bars for sale!!

That is strange Scott…. I do recall reading that someone had cut the excess tubing off just below the bottom mount and yet another that cut the bottom mounts off & only used the top mounts…
I guess it’s a matter of how bad do you want it. The reason I installed mine was to mount my shoulder restraints for 5 point restraint system but they really do look cool……

Steve....do you any photos other than those you just posted. I think you have the bars I have. I am still planning on putting them on the roadster and the roadster's stock bar into the coupe. Hopefully this winter will allow me to do that. Last winter it wouldn't quit snowing enough to get the cars out of the garage long enough to work. Thanks
I do have other photos Doc but not uploaded to my gallery folder. Seems I have read that you can post pics straight from desk top (copy & past?) without having to upload. If you know that trick then I’ll do that, otherwise I will add them to my folder.
I have photos saved on my computers under photos. I just use the "go advanced" button below. Then punch manage attachments. You will be able to browse your saved photos, then select the photo, and download it. Like the one I just did.
Then you can double click the photo to enlarge, click again to enlarge further.
