Angry Power Seats

When I open the driver's side door, the power seats will not operate. They only work when the ignition switch is in the "on" position on my 2004 crossfire. Is this a normal activation?

No. it means you have a blown diode in the power seat relay.
Use search, this issue was addressed many years ago.

NEW Mercedes R170 W202 Relay Electric Seat Adjustment Genuine 002 542 22 19 | eBay... easy fix. I did it myself two years ago. No need to drop entire panel. Just drop panel on drivers side under steering volume. Various screws. Pull down at end drivers side. Look inside with flashlight, you'll see it. Change out. Easy Fix. Mike N.....$34. On eBay. Search under Mercedes seat relay.

Here is the repair of the solenoid, it cost me a dollar when I did it and that gave me one part to use and 9 parts as spares.
CLICK
Do not buy the Mercedes part buy the same part with just the Siemens part number on it and save money.
The part number is listed in the PDF.

Yea, but if your soldering skills suck, you can get the relay from Amazon for $32.22 with free shipping :

True, but being thrifty but not tight, I can with the aid of my skill sets pay 10 cents, a dollar actually, to repair the part. My little part in saving the planet.
Ten diodes for a dollar leaving 9 spares and a dab of solder to save $35 is a deal.
I'd offer the spares to members here but the stamp to ship would cost more than the ten parts.

Makes you wonder how many expensive parts are junked because of the failure of a 10 cent part, cheaper actually when purchased in bulk by the original manufacturers.

I'm having the same problem with my (new to me) 2005 Crossfire roadster! The drivers seat only goes front to back and the back rest tilts back and forward! The switch seems like, at times, is not getting good contact! Would the relay be the same for a 2005 and is this the same problem? Thanks in advance for any helpful info!!!

The relay cost $25. through RockAuto. It takes about an hour to drop the panel underneath the dash on the driver side. I would give it a try. If that doesn't work, I would unbolt the driver side seat, make sure the connections are snapped tight & no bare wires showing. If there is no problem there, then it must be the car seat switch which can be purchased on e--bay. Since you are a new Crossfire owner, I would suggest you purchase a set of shop manuals on e-bay Some are new, some are old; they cost between $50 & $100.

You can get a free Owners Manual and a free Service Manual by down loading the PDF files on this forum. Save the PDF files on your computer and you can print relevant pages as required.
CLICK HERE for the documentation thread. Your info is in the 2005 Service Manual, but the 2004 manual is easier to read in places. So download both.

I am not sure you do have the same problem from your poor description, if it does not go up and down it is another problem altogether.

I have a 2005 Crossfire roadster. The passenger seat will not move front or back. The back of the seat will move and adjust. There is a white and black connector under the seat near the front that has been disconnected by the previous owner. The drivers seat works fine. Does the passenger seat have a separate relay or does this connector need to be reconnected??

Plugs are not there normally for no reason, plug it in and see what happens.
Maybe you will give some feedback to this question as you never did to the other two.

Onehundred80, you're right, my situation is different than the relay issue!
My drivers seat does not work up or down. It looks like I need to remove the seat (at least remove the nuts holding it down) so I can look at the electrical connections, motors, etc!
Do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue?

I tried to plug the white and black connectors under the seat together, no go, they are both female ends, is there an juction connector to connect these together? the blue connector from the seat motor is pluged in the blue connector under the seat, the seat will not move front or back. Is there a separate seat relay for the passenger seat under the dash below the steering wheel or is there only one shared by both seats. need to know what is up with this seat not moving front or back.

blhoov11 : Maybe this will help. The power comes in from the seat relay for BOTH seats on B63 :
