I need help fixing rear rotors with locked up calipers
I need help I let a total stranger who self proclaimed to be a certified mechanic do the rear amg c32 upgrade. What would cause the calipers to grab the rotors so tight and never release? The actual caliper is against the rotors metal to metal with the pads now damaged as I see little shards of metal. I Drove 3 feet before noticing this.
During the installation my 1st observation while i was installing the new wing, i noticed he let the fluid level drop to the bottom of the reservoir. 2nd no bolt on the rotors to hold it in place. 3rd he was trying to get the pads to give him more space for the rotors with a metal tip of a screwdriver driver.
I left for 30 min to get more bottles of Motul 600 I come back the car is not drivable. I attempted to bleed the brakes alone and lost light quickly and had to stop.

This is the caliper c32 AMG rear
What size rotor are you using, thickness and diameter? Spacers?
Do they fit the NA as well as the SRT.
NA rotors are smaller than the SRT rotors, so maybe the bolt holes for the calipers are closer to the axis of the rotor.
The caliper looks too close to the hub and causes it to rub, the offset appears to be incorrect.

1. did you look at my post, “Rear ventilated 300mm disk”, 2. in your photo it looks like one of the pads is in backwards? Also are those AMG calipers with a sensor? The SRT and NA do not have rear wear sensors, the #1 photo on my rear 300mm upgrade for a NA shows the caliper you need. If you got the SLK 3.2 AMG rear calipers I do not know if they will go on the Crossfires.
what year and type car are you doing this on? Even tight pads will not score a disk like that.

This is the 04 limited. I had to use longer bolts then the 10 mm.
I'm using 02 c32 AMG rotor (300) and caliper, my everyday 10mm spacer
I have read and kept screen shots from the c32 brake upgrade threads. Not too much info on rears. It said they bolt on, it said use the 300mm rotor, it said get 12 mm bolts. It said the black wire is not used on the regular xfire.
I'm dismounting the calipers this am. I have one more set of pads if the problem is fixable. I puchased grease for the pins in case the pads were not sliding on the pins. I can switch every part back the way it was if necessary. This is the caliper I'm using

It looks like the calliper is too close to the rotor spacer are probably required, the photo shows the pad right inside the calliper, if the pad on the other side is well out of the calliper surely a spacer of the correct thickness to equal the pads out.
Maybe it the wrong combination of parts.

It looks like the new rotor is not sitting straight. Something about the e brake being in the way. I tried to streghting it out and have to admit that it's super hard at the moment. I have released the e brake. Should I pull it again and take the car of parking gear instead (and see if it helps)? Its an automatic xfire. Here's pic:

It's not I'm sanding the exterior of the e -brake to try and solve it. I'm going to put on the used pads since the wear on it is going to give me some room. I think this e- is moving and in the way. Picture: The outer dust cover in the way or e-brake?

By the wear it looks like something was not right, hard to tell the exact problem without having eyes and hands on.
measure the inside drum diameter on the new rotor and the old rotor, to see if the new rotor is ismaller.
If looks good, adjust the parking brake mostly in so that can be ruled out, set the rotor back on and see how it fits, if good red adjust the parking brake, if that is ruled out have to look where it is hitting at.
by the marks it looks like the diameter is to small, but could have been wedged on by the parking brake.
